Surely you meant “Fibber”?
Once you lose credibility, it’s almost impossible to get it back.
Williams is fortunate that Walter Cronkite is not alive. Walter would make Williams look like shredded wheat long before he finished speaking his mind on Williams.
IF he isn’t fired, NBC News loses ALL credibility and must be considered as accurate as World Net Daily from now on.
nah… it’s being ignored at least on msnbc.
Oh and that World series winning home run I said I hit? That was actually someone else that hit it. I forgot I was just sitting in the stands watch the game in between looking at my cell phone…goddamn what a fucking moron…we need to start calling the news “reporters” what the english do and what they really are…news “readers”…what a dick head
He should lose his job. That he was outted by Star and Stripes says a lot. He no longer has the credibilty as a journalist to accurately and truthfully report the news. Remember, he’s beenteeling this story for over 10 years.
Curious, how many in this thread wanting to pillory Brian Williams for incorrectly remembering this incident, or maybe embellishing all of these years later, even though he did correctly describe the events in the past, gave Hillary a pass, or even defended her on her incorrect memories of running from the plane with Chelsea under sniper fire?
Not saying either was right, but why is everyone attacking, and claiming his apology is bogus? No room for mistakes? Be careful, everyone makes them. Someday it might even be you…
To be a fly on the wall in Jon Stewart’s office right now…
I never gave Hillary a pass, and neither did many others.
Williams was a cheerleader for the war, and this episode was one of the ways that he cheered it on. That it never happened just illustrates how shallow and callous his “reporting” was. He deserves to be fired. Hillary “misremembering” or lying about the sniper fire didn’t fuel any bloodthirst, either.
Williams’ story did.
When did flub become a synonym for lie?
“Flub?”
The outrage is justified in both cases. But it sure is interesting that there is not similar outrage among conservatives when Fox and Friends blatantly lies day after day. Oh, that’s right, because it fits their agenda.
I’m starting to find Brian Williams as cloying as Ann Curry.
Brian Williams’ War Story Is FUBAR
The claim that his helicopter was hit by an RPG in Iraq blew up in his face. Lloyd Grove writes the NBC anchor is busy apologizing to salvage his reputation—and career.

That is a “flub”?
A flub is when you announce “Ladies and gentlemen, President Hoobert Heever!”
And don’t forget this piece of nepotistic promotion: he flogged his daughter’s role as Peter Pan on an NBC special: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85P4kDchyyA
(I actually was first made aware of this last December when he did it again on his show the day of or before the televised production. The attached clip above was from the announcement of her pending role)
If you make that “mistake” when you are under oath, it’s called perjury.
So Brian Williams didn’t fly. Thinking back to this December, it’s clear it runs in the family.
I wish we were as irate about how NBC and all the other nets reported Bush admin propaganda as fact to get us into the war in the first place.
Help me out here. Brian Williams is a guy who reads news from a Teleprompter on TV. Why does his recollection or misrecollection about a helicopter ride constitute a scandal? I just can’t figure out why anyone would care.
