Discussion for article #224078
âThatâs something we donât see a lot of anymore, because of peopleâs changing patterns of discrimination,â she said.
I really canât see how any one person is qualified to make such a blanket statement about the experiences of a multitude of people. And furthermore, what planet does she inhabit where people have stopped discriminating against the LGBT community?
Two views on the issue from the GOP; one from Kramer a hinterland ND Rep. and the second a disoriented, hands off GOP governor. I think they both missed the boat.
I think Brewer can identify because she does look like the âTâ in âLGBT!â
Come on, give her a break. While she is wrong most of the time (as is Justice Kennedy), one should recognize an ally (like Justice Kennedy) and give him some praise when that ally is actually right on a topic, and even consistently right.
So, while I cheerfully disagree with Gov. Brewer on just about everything, kudos to her position on gay rights! How many right wing Republican governors are there who come out in favor of gay rights?
So, Brewer doesnât believe in discrimination, huh? Hispanics donât count, I guess.
The two sentences you quote is about as clear a statement From Brewer as Iâve seen âŚand itâs not all that clear. Like McCain she has occasional moments in which she does the right thing. But sadly they are rare.
Itâs easy for her to say that since she cannot run for governor again and she also knows damn well that the very conservative legislature would never pass such a non-discrimination bill especially since it just passed the legislation she vetoed not long ago
ââŚâI do not believe in discrimination,â [Brewer] saidâŚâ
She later added, âExcept against those who look all Mexicany; you know, foreign-ish; kinda darky like. Now, those people should be required to show their papers.â
Occasionally Brewer, like McCain, has a moment of clarity. But when she does she gets heat from the knuckle draggers in the state Legislature. When she saw the benefits of expanding Medicaid to accommodate the ACA you could hear the howls from the state Senate and House all the way down here in Tucson 120 miles to the south.
This woman has supported anti-gay measures as recently as 2012. She is a traitor like so many politicians. Once they are going to retire or otherwise go out of the public spotlight, they try to redeem themselves with these kind of statements.
F. you. I am not amused or giving you any credit.
Letâs get the bill to her desk and then see what she decides to do. Like with the âReligious Freedomâ Bill (aka the Bigot Bill), you canât tell anything by what Governor Bonefinger says.
âBonefingerâ. Ouch.
Maybe sheâs seeing more light these days. I donât know, but itâs hard not to see her as a hypocrite and opportunist.
