Discussion: Breaking: Federal Judge Blocks Part Of North Carolina's Anti-Trans HB2

No, no, no, no, no! I mean, that’s great and all, but I hope it doesn’t fire up the idiots and give Shawshank Warden another term. His replacement would repeal all of HB2.

The steady drip, drip, drip of the death of the GOP.

Let’s open the faucet all the way this November, starting with Teabagger McCrory.

Note to oligarchs trying to control the system: When selecting your puppets, make sure they don’t default to foot-in-mouth position when your fist isn’t up their ass.

The “states’ rights” people love local control - unless they have to share down with liberal cities.

These are the death throes of this topic…and possibly/probably the GOP as we know it…

Thank FSM!

“A state law limiting protections for LGBT people.”

The GOP defines equal protections for LGBT people as “special privileges”.

Of course, “special privileges” would be something like…oh, I don’t know…maybe not having to pay taxes.

Like churches.

Or not having to do your job as a state employee.

This is the same Judge Schroeder who just got reversed by the Fourth Circuit on the voter suppression law. (He’s not an ideologue. As the Fourth Circuit put it, his minute examination of the trees just caused him to miss the forest).

Thanks, Tarheel GOP!

Probably has to do with that “wide stance,” eh ?

I hope the rest of it gets struck down too, not just the crazy-evil parts.

We can hope this would be the case, however repeal would require the cooperation of the North Carolina Legislature. Recalling for a moment that

  1. This was the collection of geniuses who passed HB-2 as emergency legislation in less than 48 (or was it 72?) hours; and,
  2. The districting in NC remains gerrymandered until hell itself won’t have it;

I will not hold my breath awaiting repeal of HB-2.

What bothers me most is the fact that men dressed as women were never heard of to be a problem in women’s rest rooms. Typical GOPer: create a problem where none existed, provide a solution that now causes a real problem.

No, and I’ve never noticed one. I think the female-to male transition may be more easily identifiable (probably the lack of makeup), which I suspect does make them noticeable in men’s rooms. I’ve wondered how safe they are without the law (in men’s room) and how much of the law is influenced by getting them out of the men’s room. Something they would never admit to, but would spout the BS they are about protecting their women-folk to justify. It also forces the unidentifiable male-to-female women into identifying themselves for their scorn.

I thought it was just me. I always found his looks to be on the evil side because of the similarities.

McCrory: Judge is now legislating. We are giving free Bathroom Birth Certificates to all our citizens making it easy for them to go to the bathroom of Jesus’s choosing.

Oh, the Kochs and their comrade-in-arms Art Pope got exactly what they wanted when they bought McCrory and the first NC Republican legislature in 100 years: freedom for Big Energy to frack and pollute, and, with HB2, a frozen minimum wage and more obstacles in the way of employees who want to sue their employers for discrimination of any kind. Mission accomplished.

The whole fake-out with Republicans pearl-clutching about hairy men in the little girls’ bathroom was an emotional ploy meant to cover for the meat of the bill, which restricts workers’ rights. It looks like the transgender bathroom part still commands all the attention, and is the only part being ruled upon here. The rest apparently stays in place for now.

If McCrory fails to be re-elected, the oligarchs don’t give a shit. They have ample protection in place to continue raping the land and screwing employees for years to come.
