Discussion: Both Miss USA Hosts Drop Out Over Trump's Comments on Immigrants

Discussion for article #238044

Trump get’s dumped. Again. He’s making a habit of this. His record just doesn’t scream presidential timber…and yet, he’s polling on 2nd place. The gods have been good to us this last week.

The event is scheduled to take place on July 12 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Bobby Jindal should be available. He quit his day job as governor.

Miss USA organizers insisted the event will go on as planned, though it currently has no broadcaster. The event is scheduled to take place on July 12 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Take your pick for new host:

A) Bobby Jindal
B) David "Diaper’ Vitter
C) Duck Dynasty (the racist one)
D) Duck Dynasty (the homophobic one)
E) Duck Dynasty (the one married to his sister)

His lawyers will be well-paid this year - I’m counting at least six lawsuits, just in the last few days.

There is a problem here for those he’s suing, but it’ll depend upon how the contracts have been written (which you know will, of course, be in Trump’s favor). Not sure what the contract law is for when one party has a philosophical, but unrelated, difference with the other party.

The Donald Trump may have figured out the secret sauce to loosing money while running for president.

Has Badger-on-Head run out of feet to shoot himself in?

I’m going to guess that both Univision and NBC have at least one lawyer on staff. The big question is how “yuge” the settlements from tRump will be.

Who is creepier, Trump or Hefner? Or is it about the same?

Yes, I suspect the co-hosts have contracts that don’t allow them to beg off so easily. But I’ll wager there’s nothing to prevent them from turning up and reading their lines off their cue cards in a nice, flat monotone, as if they were robots. Could be very entertaining, if there’s anyone to broadcast it.

How is Trump supposed to create jobs? He’s lost two just since he started running.

I don’t think NBC, Univision, et al. are at risk. There is an implied promise in every contract that a party to the contract will not deprive the other party of the benefits of the contract. Here is a hypothetical, analogous example: Supplier enters into a contract with retailer; supplier then goes on national television and states that the goods he will supply smell like farts and taste like shit; by disgusting potential customers of retailer, supplier has deprived retailer of the benefits of the contract.

At least Hef’s magazine had some good articles to read**. Trump is a boring one-note song.

And now this…

Meanwhile, Reuters also notes that a television company controlled by Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim has canceled a project with Trump after his comments.

“Burke wrote on Facebook that she could not in good conscience participate in the [Miss USA pageant] in light of the recent statements made by Donald Trump…”

  • The long tradition of misogyny? No problem.
  • The objectification of lady parts? No problem.
  • The mind-numbing glamorization of tawdry superficiality? No problem.
  • A comment Trump made last week? Suddenly Ms. Burke has a problem.

Clearly a woman of strong principles.
