Sure, you are sorry.

The Herald is just NYPost lite. I’m sure Rupert Murdoch thought this cartoon was a real knee-slapper.

“Inadvertently” my ass. Same joke, any other president = any other flavor.

Obviously the cartoonist was trying for some kind of comment on racism. But there is no reason to think the intruder was a specifically racist nut job. If he had invaded in a KKK costume, the joke still wouldn’t work. It’s odd the cartoonist thought of it and odd that the editors gave it a pass.

Has he tried the bbq-rib scented deodorant? Or the fried chicken-scented body wash?

Sure, none of the antipathy to Obama is racial in nature. Not even a little.

When an industry is dying, the people left in it at the end, as the lights slowly go out, are not the best who were there at its height. Those people are long gone, and it shows. That said, it’s still pretty much unbelievable that something this offensively stupid and lame could make it all the way through the editorial process, passing under however many sets of eyes, without anyone saying WTF. This would not have happened at a major newspaper in previous decades.

Remember ladies and gentlemen, racism NO LONGER EXISTS!!!

I’m sure they would not have used the same line about watermelons if it were Bill Clinton or W Bush

The cartoonist forgot to place a bucket of KFC on the bathroom counter top. Half-assed obtuseness is sooooo lame…

“We sincerely regret if we inadvertently offended anyone” with today’s Holbert cartoon.

Nothing inadvertent about this offense. Nothing.

You know you’re a shitty paper when your apology includes the qualifier “If we offended anyone…”

People were obviously offended. Say, “We apologize for our poor judgement.” Full stop. No ‘ifs.’ No ‘inadvertents.’ Jackasses.

You mean “sorry”, with the air quotes.

Strike up the calls for Holbert’s cartoons to be taken out of the Herald. Dude should be ashamed of himself, but of course, conservatives are constitutionally incapable of feeling shame, so he should just be forced to resign or fired.

Remember Earl Butz? That’s what used to happen to people who made racist jokes. And that was in a locker room, not in the pages of a daily newspaper of a major US city.

And the fucking pricks have the nerve to say racism has nothing to do with the all out obstruction, and the disrespect of the president.

Some apology. If' we offended anybody. There's noif’. The damn cartoon was offensive. Period. But so was the hopeless TPM coverage. Who’s going to apologize for this: ``The Boston herald did not immiedately return calls seeking comment.’?

Earl Butz? There’s a blast from the past.
