What is legal, however, is what we can do. Today, we have rules about immigration. These rules were formulated when people began to notice that unlimited immigration was causing problems. Some of those reasons were, by the logic of today, racist, such as the Chinese Exclusion Act.
And as to the âgenocide of the native peoplesâ, that too is another nonsense idea. During the period 1600-1900, the native people were trying like hell to exact genocide on the European settlers. They were just less successful. So, now, there is a rewrite of history to make the successful Europeans feel guilty. I donât feel guilty about what happened 100-300 years ago. But you go right ahead and feel all the guilt that you wish to feel. History is what happened. Guilt is how we interpret it.

They were religious refugees, who didnât speak English. He welcomed them, and, in the fullness of time, his daughter Mary married their son John.
Two of their grandsons were heroes of the American Revolution.

My ancestors came here legally too - because there werenât any fucking rules about it. That goes for the Bering Straight contingent and the Europeans too.
The travel ban, refugee ban, Muslim ban, whatever you want to call it, affected only the people who had gone through the long, arduous legal process and who were operating entirely inside the law. And if you think the vast majority of those who cross without documentation wouldnât rather be working with legal status, you couldnât be more wrong.

All of these people were, in the standards and laws of their time, legal. In the standards and laws of today, they would be illegal.

Yeah, that ban is dumb, and was not done with proper vetting. Trump is learning slowly.
Itâs not clear, however, that the ban is illegal. The Executive Branch has a lot of discretion with regard to immigration.
If they have âdiscretionâ to do this, the law is wrong.
Well, that may be. In a civilized society, we change the laws to make them âmoralâ. In a society of bandits, outlaws, scofflaws, and criminals, persons ignore the laws or conspire to circumvent them.
Note that one personâs moral action is another person totally inappropriate action. Note also that a government of âmoral actionâ is what Christian conservatives are calling for - biblical government. I prefer a government of laws, not a government of men.
The Democratic Party is today aiding and abetting criminals, and is a RICO. Itâs one big reason they are losing, losing, losing, in 44 of the 50 states, and why in 2018 they will have trouble keeping 40+ senators.
The Democratic Party should end its policy agenda of breaking the law by pimping for illegals.

Those actions are all chosen by persons to attempt to impose their moral notions on the law. In some cases, they have succeeded. Jim Crow laws are gone. Racism is a much smaller problem than it was.
Smoking dope, which I did some time ago, is also an activity many partake of. In CO, WA, and other states, it is now legal.
However, the choice of a political party to endorse and promote illegal activity is wrong. I have never heard a political party say âGo ahead, drive 10 MPH over the limit. Everyone does itâ.
I have heard the Democrats say âWe are going to help all the illegals break the lawâ. What IS acceptable is âWe will do what we can to change the lawsâ. I donât agree with that, but that is what politics is about - writing the laws. Simply stating that the D Party will help, assist, aid, abett, and condone illegals is wrong, period.
That is destroying the moral fiber of the Democratic Party. They should stop pimping for illegals. They should stop assisting sanctuary cities. They should stop trying to prevent ICE from doing its job.
Hopefully by 2018 Trump will have deported the whole bunch of em and the debate will be ended.
