Discussion: Bond Set for White Police Officer Who Allegedly Killed Daughter's Black Boyfriend

Discussion for article #226778

That poor girl and the young man’s family! I hope that Lisa’s sisters are not still living in the Keplers’ house.

“These people loved their daughter”. I suppose nothing expresses parental love better than killing your daughter’s boyfriend. Does the attorney spouting that crap even listen to himself?

So these parents loved their daughter so much they
put her in a homeless shelter? A young volunteer and his
family take her in and cares for her. Her lunatic father
kills him because-----he lives in a bad neighborhood?
And no “reliable” witnesses must mean the man’s daughter
or other black people—huh? Damn.

Wow. It’s a good thing we don’t have any racist cops in the US. This wasn’t about race, this was about protecting a daughter that he threw out of his house from some marauding oversexed Negro boy.

Perhaps the Klan will take up a collection for him also. Don’t look now, Officer Wilson, you’ve got competition for donations!

I thought the assumption in these cases was “as long as you’re under my roof you live by my rules” only applied under that roof, apparently big man thinks he sets everyone’s rules. Let’s see how that works out.

If only the father were Muslim: Under (some interpretations of) Sharia law–still legal in Oklahoma–he could have killed his daughter for having brought shame on his family, the young man might still be alive, and then we’d all have a nice long chin-wag about First Amendment rights instead of yet another one about the state of race relations in this country.

The deeper subtext here is that there’s a long, long history of racial animosity in Tulsa, the chief event in that history being the race riots of 1921, that only recently has been publicly discussed there. My hope, though, is that pre-meditation will be so obvious to the jury here that Tulsans can avoid truly ugly fallout from this case.

Attorneys can only work with what their clients give them. This one doesn’t have much to give. It’s “pound the table” stuff.

Give him some military equipment. What could go wrong?

Actually, looks more like he’s going with the stone racist jury nullification argument, which is above and beyond the call and suggests a personal commitment.

Worse, a cop who killed someone purely for being black.
Usually, there’s at least some claim, however tenuous, that “that guy [who invariably ‘just happens to be’ black] scared me.” [1] This schmuck doesn’t even have that.

[1] Black teenaged boys act like teenaged boys of any place, any race. Why do cops act like they’re some kind of terrifying alien creatures, the likes of which they’ve never seen before?
######(And those guys with droopy pants? They are NOT thugs. However, if you were to put them into a glass tube, induce a vacuum and bring it down to 0 Kelvin, you would have the international platinum-iridium standard for “Fashion Victims.” Show some pity.)

Look at the picture of Lake - he has blue eyes, olive skin, and brown, straight hair. I guess Kepler and his attorney follow the “one drop rule”.

I would pull the switch myself on that murderer.
