I mean, sure, it’s another detail about the guy’s past, but a)the fact that they have to say this about something 6 years ago indicates it’s not true now, and b)so what? When my 94 year old grandfather was having trouble in the last year of his life, I was over there every day and night, often having to drive over at 3am because he was calling in a panic about having fallen out of bed (note: when he actually fell out of bed, he wasn’t near enough to the phone to call). As a result, when my father went through the year-long decline that ended with his death, I wasn’t going to force my mother to try to pick up his 6’, 220+lb frame off the floor by herself. I just went and spent that year living at home.
So, ok, he declared bankruptcy, just like a lot of other people have done. And ok, he was living with his mom during a financial hardship.
So what? The guy might be a raving madman, but I’m glad that when he had a hardship in his life, he had family to help him out. I’m not gonna mock him for that. Plenty of people don’t have that good fortune.

So many Trumpers seem to have failed lives…the ones I know the best are aggrieved and resentful. In one case, a former student flunked out of a graduate program and had to take low-wage jobs in her community to support herself. She’s a hard core 45 supporter who loves to antagonize anyone who expresses outrage over 45’s machinations. She seems to revel in other people’s unhappiness. Another one I know wanted to teach history at the high school level, but was clearly unsuited to a HS classroom, they would’ve eaten him alive. He claims his failure to achieve a teaching certif was due to his stated unwillingness to go teach on a Native American reservation–in other words, minorities sank his chances to get what he wanted. This bomber is an extreme example, but a crucial subset of Trumpers are unhappy with their lives and tend to blame others–the same others that Trump demonizes. Funny how that works.
