ETA: France and Britain, together, have a creditable combined nuclear arsenal and delivery systems. If things go south, Brexit, not withstanding, a European joint defense force is a real possibility, with the Germans going nuclear too, the missiles aimed at Washington and Moscow. Farfetched? Not any more. And the makings of a good action/spy novel.

After the 2016 election, I tried to take solace in the words of those who said, “Trump can’t get away with that much” or “Don’t worry, there are checks and balances.” Now, it looks like the USA is going to endorse the annexation of Crimea by the Russians. Up is down, we’re through the looking glass, the world as we knew it is over . . . . . no verbal assessment seems to accurately capture my sense of horror.
