Discussion: Boehner Won't Call Las Vegas Shootings 'Domestic Terrorism'

Discussion for article #223738

I’m not sure how I’d describe a complete tool of the right wing. . .

He’s in a pickle–if it’s terrorism (which the GOP loves to throw around when the accused parties are brown) he also makes Harry Reid right by describing Bundy supporters as domestic terrorists.

I think jonknee is right. If he uses the term “domestic terrorist” he comes off agreeing with Reid and no Republican can ever agree with a Democrat, ever.

And it won’t be long before we hear the right-wing wingnuts start calling them “Freedom Fighters”…

As a senior executive of the PR firm for the domestic terrorists, you’d think he’d be a little quicker on his feet. A prepared statement perhaps.

Well well well, NOW look at who won’t call terror terror!

He can’t call them terrorists when they’re part of the Republican base.

It’s a reflection of the ideological comity between what now passes for the Republican Party and those on the extreme anti-government right-wing.

Soooo . . . Obama not calling BENGHAAZIIIIII! an act of terrorism, even though he did, is totally a huuuuuuuge scandal worthy of impeachment, but Boner stumbling over whether calling this act of terrorism an act of terrorism is a minor stumble for which the MSM will razz him for two minutes and then forget. Because IOKYR and whatever we do we must not offend the delicate sensibilities of the five of six million loony right gun fondling insurrectionists.

Oh, and also because when Democrats give him grief about it, it will be “politics, chortle chortle Harry Reid is crazy” rather than red alert scandal time, because Republicans can make things true just by saying them while Democrats saying things that are true means they’re automatically discounted by our oh so liberal media.

He won’t call it domestic terrorism, because then he’d have to acknowledge that their implicit and explicit support of people like Cliven Bundy have real world, terrible consequences.

These folks were loudly supporting Cliven Bundy. The shooters are nothing more than members of our domestic terror cell Al Teahadi. If it walks like a terrorist and acts like a terrorist, it’s probably a Tea Bag.

Insufficient melanin for terrorism. Checkmate, libulardos!

The GOP thinks terrorism can only be committed by muslims.

If he labels these anti-government fanatics terrorists, then he’s opened the door for being able to label a huge chunk of his party’s base “terrorist sympathizers,” since they share many of the goals and fears of the Vegas shooters. You can understand why he’s mute on the topic.

If the perpetrators were Muslim american I bet he could describe it as terrorism, but white people murdering cops and innocent people while shouting about a revolution, that’s just white folk getting excited.

The GOP has never had much of a moral compass, but what it once had has long be crushed.

“Predictable”

“Progressive”

“All part of the plan”

Any of those would work, Speaker Gin Blossom.
