How about we get to the root of the VA problem…
Dick and dubya’s wars that produced the veterans that the Iraqi oil was gonna pay for that China is buying now.
No plans were made for anything…

And that’s why you are going to support Bernie Sanders’s bill to provide the resources and tools to address the problems in the VA, right Mr. Boehner?
Funny, the 41 GOPers in the Senate blocked the VA funding bill that would have gone a along way towards fixing the systemic issues with the VA.
Your record of lying for the GOP remains intact. Well done.
Which is why the GOP loves it since they can use it to attack the Obama administration and Democrats by proxy. One of these GOP freaks (Ben Carson) even let slip that the death of vets is a “gift from god” since it works for them politically.
John Boehner, you can go fuck yourself sideways.
How about you fund VA healthcare as it should be. How about you find some money to fix their records systems.
I don’t vent much, but this guy’s statement is so hypocritical
The resignation was obviously not a way to paper over the problem, jackass Boehner
GOP: We DEMAND his resignation!!!1!!!
[resignation offered and accepted]
GOP: His resignation changes NOTHING!!1!!1!!!
Exactly WHEN will Obama ever fucking learn that it doesn’t matter WHAT he does, he will be pilloried for it, and so just do the RIGHT thing.
Forgot about that. Thanks.
Beat me to it. “And that will never happen in My House!”
Oh, the vagarys of a quantum universe!
Perhaps it will confuse them if we run away some more?
Smugly the Orangeman utters TeaBagg talking points, secure in the knowledge that he’s got literally billions of Dirty Energy money behind him to hammer home whatever ALEC wants. Wouldn’t it be nice if the video that I am listing below got through to people
I think Colin Powell should offer himself to lead the VA
a) because it would make it hard for the GOP to refuse to both confirm him and work with him; and
b) because he owes an unpayable debt to the thousands of vets he helped create.
Hey, look who’s back!
Part of Obama’s problem is his constant pre-compromise on so many issues. Powell would be another of those.
Your faux outrage for our vets is duly noted
Statement from the Iraq and Afghanistan Vets
As you may have heard, VA Secretary Shinseki resigned this morning in response to the ongoing scandal at the VA regarding unacceptably long wait times for care, allegations of wrongdoing, and a potentially criminal cover up. IAVA released this statement in response:
IAVA members are outraged as this scandal has grown and they are ready for new management, new oversight, and new energy. Our members welcome this change at the VA. As we prepare for a new head of the VA, we respectfully thank General Shinseki for his lifetime of service to our nation," said CEO and Founder Paul Rieckhoff.
“President Obama now has the opportunity and a moral obligation to step up and demonstrate his own leadership and bring under control a deep systemic element of incompetence and corruption that clearly exists in the VA. Regardless of the long history of troubles at the VA, this crisis has occurred under his watch, and America’s vets are looking to the Commander in Chief to act quickly. President Obama must move now to appoint an energetic Secretary who is unafraid to make bold changes and work quickly and aggressively to change the VA system. Over 9 million vets who rely on its care are depending on it,” Rieckhoff added.
"We encourage the President to look for an Iraq or Afghanistan veteran who will lead an aggressive turnaround of the VA.
“IAVA members are standing by to work with the President to improve the VA but we should be clear that America’s veterans will not accept a symbolic change of management alone. We know and respect Sloan Gibson and are standing by to support him but this is just the first step on a long path to true reform. It will be a tough fight but IAVA members are up for it and stand ready to lead and serve.”
As always, we’ve got your back. We’ll keep you updated.
Candace. Sop good to see you again and as usual you are right on the money, That would be a perfect selection.
Obama did the right thing here Meri. I know it’s hard for you to wrap your head around it but once Shinseki tendered his resignation, the President had to accept it.
Hey, Candace, good to “see” you!
I agree with you that Obama is too compromising, but I still think Colin Powell is a good choice.
• He has twice gone on record has having voted for Obama, so I think he is a supporter of our President
• he expresses regret at allowing his credibility to be used in the run up to war,
• he obviously has leadership capabilities,
• his high profile and the respect he retains would make it hard for the GOP to deny any requests on behalf of vets and still save face with voters
• and I think he would work his heart out because of what he owes the vets he helped create.
