“On Tuesday, Boehner defended the plan”–if I let you idiots touch it, you break it.
It’s amazing the Speaker of the House has to defend a bi-partisan deal to keep the country solvent and avoid shutdown. Why couldn’t he have just done this years ago and avoided all the problems?
In Norway, they have a huge fund, made from all the off shore oil they have (they socialized the mineral rights like Alaska did), and they invest the proceeds internationally. They have about $900 Billion in it, and its invested widely around the world. The money is for the well-being of all the citizens of the country.
Just FYI.
I’m still not convinced there’s enough votes on the right to pass this even with 100% of the D’s voting for it…not even to start with the Senate fire-bombers where Lee, Cruz and Rubio (if he bothers to show up to vote) have already come out against it. Given how many blown votes Johnny-boy has had in the past couple of years I’m still in wait and see.
House Majority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) announced on Tuesday
I think Boehner’s (still) the Speaker, Caitlin. McCarthy is majority leader.
That’s great what Norway is doing. In the US, that $900B would be privatized and go into the pockets of about 6 people.
“It’s certainly not the process I would want, but think about what the alternative was,”
The alternative was that the Free Dumb Caucus tanks the economy, GOP takes the blame, thus guaranteeing a Clinton white house, Dem senate, and possibly a Dem majority in the House. Very soon the GOP will wonder why they hated Boehner so much. He’s the last guy around who gave a damn about saving their asses.
I think in any deal like this, just enough Republicans vote for it that it passes and no more. That allows the bill to go through with most still being able to say they voted against it, even though most would vote for it in a sane world. Several who voted against the debt limit increase last time said they would vote for it this time.
Pokes em’ in the eye with a stinky stick ! — Yeee … Haaaa ! —
Especially since I (Boehner) made sure that he didn’t have to until after the 2016 elections.
So we are OK until March of 2017, one month after the next President is sworn in. The new administration won’t even have had time to name their political appointees let alone get them approved before this crisis is upon them.
