Discussion: Boehner Confident Paul Ryan Will Gain Support He Needs To Be Speaker

Discussion for article #241995

Ah, so you’ve found a way to kick your 40 lunatics (well, super-lunatics? given the rest aren’t all that stable either) to the curb then? Maybe you should have tried that 4 years ago.

That’s a perfect photo choice for the story…

Boehner reminded the Freedom Caucus that “this is not about
us.”

The caucus immediately fired back, “Yes it is, Old Man.”

God, if Ryan can’t get the votes I’ll likely end up in the hospital with massive hernia from all my laughing.

You have been in The House, right John? It’s ALL about us as far as the Freedumd Caucus is concerned.

If history is any guide, Boehner’s certainty is the kiss of death to Ryan’s speakership prospects.

Shoving him out on the plank, before all the votes have been counted. Classical Boehner. Why deal with an embarrassing situation in private, when you can play it out publicly for the world to see?

All indications I am seeing this morning is the Freedom Caucus is rejecting Ryan’s demands. And why should they accept them? Threatening the Speaker is the central core of their power; giving that up for nothing in return makes no sense.

And the ironies here are coming almost too fast to keep up with. The House, which is built on the notion of compromise, is now reduced to rival gangs in the same party issuing demands and counter demands to each other…all of them total and non negotiable. One of the demands is that Ryan gets to spend time with his family…a guy who is against the notion of paid Family leave for everyone else. And of course, elected officials wanting to remove the option of holding elections for their own posts, from the table.

Obvious conclusion: Cowardly “moderates” will fold and give the Freedumbers what they want.

He would say that, wouldn’t he ?
Boehner is itching to get the hell out, no matter who replaces him…

They both look severely constipated. Or, pretending they didn’t really fart.

Paul Ryan should take note that Boehner is actually more popular since he decided to retire. Paul Ryan will never please the freedom caucus because he is too sane. His favorable will go down as soon as he does something positive. LOL.

It looks like they both have disdain for each other. One likes to drink and socialize and the other one likes to exercise. LOL.

Not frothing does not equal “sane”.

That’s Boehner trying to keep a straight face while he’s laughing on the inside. Tha’ts Paul Ryan’s “beg me” face while he’s thinking “No way in hell”.

“…To be speaker”… No Johnny, to BECOME speaker!!! Once he’s speaker he’ll be in the same sinking boat you are in, the difference is he won’t be able to quit.
