Well! They were dealing with 2 people⌠/S
This is way some people have a problem with the Police. The officer said he was giving the woman two minutes to determine whether she had to give him her name, and within 45 seconds, he was trying to arrest her. Looking on YouTube, Iâve seem people do more and get treated with more respect than this woman.
BTW, it must have been a slow day in Barstow. There were initially two officers, and that number grew quickly.
And only demanded the name of oneâŚwhat was the difference in the two that required that I wonder?
SPOILER: She was black and called out the white woman by color for going off on her. Thatâs what set him off and was the moment he decided he was going to put her in cuffs. It didnât matter what she said or did after that moment, given her name, showed her ID wouldnât have mattered, she was going into custody
TPM:
Barstow police defended the arrest and city officials denied that race played a role in the arrest.
âŚ
âThis incident was in no way racially motivated, as implied by the ACLU,â city officials told the Dispatch.
You know what, Barstow Police?
I. Donât. Give. A. Fuck. The misogyny and recklessly indifferent endangerment displayed here far outweigh any other concerns: You donât push a pregnant woman to the ground, especially on her stomach, you clueless shit-for-brains fuckwits.
My god, you honestly think you can justify this? Go to hell.
Iâm not sure about thereâŚbut in most states an Officer must witness the alleged argument / fight in order to make an arrest associated with it. If thatâs the case here the Cop had no business there at all. He shows upâŚdetermines no one is hurt and he asks the parties to disperse. He does NOT get involved in he said / she saids and he does not pick a side in the dispute.
At some point we have to ask if its not the right thing to do in resiting a false arrest. Seems someone thought that the case here as she had that charge dismissed. Sure the cops are going to squawk. They have to. They knocked a pregnant women to the ground and called that resisting on her part. They have to have something or they burn. I hope she gets the big bucks.
âThe City of Barstow has reviewed the video link regarding Charlena Cookâs arrest. It is apparent that Ms. Cook actively resisted arrest,â the police department said
âResisting arrestâ is the Swiss Army Knife of police excuses. No matter how outrageous or unwarranted their actions are, they can always win by putting the upset/confused/angry/indignant citizen under arrest. If the citizen submits, they put up the with the hassle and insult and waste of time and resources to get hauled to the station and then having to clear their name of whatever BS charges are brought (if any). If the citizen is not entirely docile, even when being treated roughly or having a limb put in a painful position, the RA charge is triggered.
This video clearly showed that the police had no cause to require ID and arrested her for no reason other than not providing the ID promptly. The statement from the department shows that we are still a long way from breaking the police mindset that defiance by a citizen is grounds for immediate escalation.
Is this the post-racist America to which you were referring, Justices?
Additionally, Justices, even though this cop repeatedly lied to the woman, telling her she can be arrested for nothing more than her not putting up with crap? She very well may have exhibited road rage and scared the poop out of the other woman â but no crime was committed, she didnât threaten the woman any bodily harm, etc. But just being a bitch for a minute or two shouldnât be grounds for arrest. The officer witnessed nothing except two ladies with varying stories about one of the ladies getting scared. The officer just got a hard-on and decided this woman pushed the right buttons. Cops who arrest under false pretenses and lie to the arrestee while doing so should be culpable under the law ⌠but, oh, I forgot â (some) SCOTUS Justices feel the LEO doesnât really need to know the laws they are enforcing.
What a crock of shit â and SCOTUS majority opinion says this is totally okay.
This is horrifying, The police unnecessarily escalated this for no good reason and could have caused the woman to go into labor. The officer sounds perplexed that she is resisting â but it is an instinctual response. Anyone aggressively man-handled out-of-the-blue like that would react similarly to defend themselves.
The Officer seemed to know the rules when he was talking to the white womanâhe told her no crime had been committed. Then he sees the black woman and immediately treats her like a criminal.
This is what happens when we hire Arnold Swartzeneger as a cop.
I never did hear him say why he was arresting her.
Unt ze frauline vas requested to prezent her papiers to ze righvul auzority, unt ze refused. Vat alternative did ze leave vut ze immediate uze auf force?! Vat Vaterland do you zink zis iz, ze United Zates? Seig Heil!
I was a military policemen in the Army and itâs incidents like this that helped me decide not to become a cop. I couldnât imagine tackling a pregnant woman unless she was holding a weapon.
This belief cops all seem to share that thereâs no such thing as fight of flight hormones and everyone is capable of just calmly and peaceably submitting to an arrest and being absolutely perfectly compliant to the series of contradictory commands being screamed at them by the bulked up by exercise and body armor with a gun and a belt full of pain infliction devices is just baffling to me. Itâs like they think theyâre the only ones who have adrenal glands.
Every time, its always âwell, if only theyâd behave absolutely contrary to the way twenty million years of evolution has programmed us to deal with threatening situations, we wouldnât have to use disproportionate force to obtain their compliance now, would we?â
Never resist arrest. Even if you believe that it is a wrongful arrest. That being said, the cops have a moral obligation to use care with women, especially pregnant women. Whether the fact that both cops were White and the woman being Black was a factor in the abusive treatment she received is a valid concern, IMO.
Why if the fuck would he try to arrest her so quick and then thereâs like 5 or 6 cops are around the scene to deal with one women. Holy shit.
The cop arrested her for not showing him the proper respect. He tells the white woman thereâs no reason to arrest anyone, but goes off because the black woman took too much time in producing id.

On the other hand if you would be âdocileâ as they demand then that will also be used as RA or something else. I happen to have a hormonal imbalance due to a brain tumor and donât produce any Adrenalin therefore I am docile. Cop pulled me out of a sobriety check point because I was not âshowing and reactionâ therefore something was wrong. These days they do a âNo Refuseâ type of check point and have DA and Judge available to immediately order a blood test. Cop pulled that shit on me, drew blood, confiscated the car and booked me. A week later when test came back clean they were verbally pissed when they had to return the car. Zero apology, zero anything. Still needed to force the DA/police to go to court to clear my name as already reported in newspaper, insurance company, etc as a DUI arrest. My Doctor told the Judge that what the cop used for suspicion was bogus and reason why. Cops still wanted the car and even with a clean test a DUI citation. Judge throw everything out, ordered records destroyed, ordered insurance company to be notified and ordered newspaper to print a retraction. By the way I have not had a drink in over 50 years.
Well, yeah. Everyoneâs guilty simply by virtue of being in the system.
Nothing pisses people off more than being proven wrong, but cops are even worse precisely because in cop culture, being proven wrong just means you put one over on them and the system. If you werenât guilty of something, they wouldnât have arrested you, right?
Good on you for pursuing that to the end.
