And just look at all the free publicity he will get for taking that tyrant government to court for what he perceives will be the clear victory for Mom and apple pie.

Eejit.

I like how funding is being cut off for allegations. Not waiting for everything to come in, but take all your information from an edited video that has the express goal of being against abortion. If this were a similar thing by the left it would not even get play by these people. It would just be a hit job and ignored. But when it is your side, sure.

Well, just as long as Jindal doesn’t do something really terrible like asking Planned Parenthood to fill out some paperwork proving that they are a legitimate non-profit. Now that would be an overreach of government bordering on fascism, or at least that’s what I’ve been lead to believe. //

and all the Corp of Engineers and FEMA funding (hurricane season is upon us). We don’t want to get in Darwin’s way here.

From that article at Politico (kinda hate to link to Politico but the article is straight reporting here):

Yet when several states tried to pull Medicaid funding from Planned Parenthood clinics, courts sided with Planned Parenthood and its backers, and stopped all or part of defunding bids in Tennessee, Indiana, Arizona and North Carolina.

Texas, under then-Gov. Rick Perry, did significantly cut family planning funds for clinics in 2011 as part of a larger crackdown on abortion providers. But the Obama administration said the move violated Medicaid requirements for offering a choice of family planning providers, and federal officials pulled Medicaid funding from the state for those services.

“The cases where states have tried to take away Medicaid funding from Planned Parenthood have all failed in one way or another,” said Susan Fogel, director of reproductive health for the National Health Law Program.

Providers can be barred from participating in Medicaid in some situations, Fogel said. They could be disqualified if they commit fraud or violate licensing laws or the Medicaid statute. The sting videos released by the Center for Medical Progress depict alleged wrongdoing, but Planned Parenthood hasn’t been formally charged with illegal activity or proved to have broken the law.

Hate to put it so blankly, but he has to speak louder and dumber because he’s darker. No doubt driven his whole career to date - be the whitest man in the room.

If the Planned Parenthood clinics have a Medicaid provider agreement, I don’t believe it can be taken away unilaterally by the governor without going through a specific administrative process. If the Louisiana clinics don’t perform abortions, then anything alleged in the sting videos would not be applicable to them and therefore there is no rationale under state law to revoke the provider agreements.

Sounds like Jindhal’s desperation at being ignored by the Republican voters is showing…

Does a governor even have the authority to pick and choose where federal money goes? I think your suggestions are great. Maybe if the citizens of Louisiana suffer enough they will elect people who actually act in their best interests.

Agree with all you said, but just to keep the record straight, Medicaid does not cover abortions. It is forbidden by the Hyde Amendment.

However, by essentially defunding Planned Parenthood, they could defacto eliminate the ability to get an abortion by forcing PP to close its doors. Sick fucks all!

Burkas should also be state mandated, in your kingdom, Bobby.

Not to nit pick, but I think you meant Medicaid. Not too many of us Medicare recipients need Planned Parenthood. LOL

Sorry Jindal you still won’t make the adult table at the FOX debate, you’ll be sitting at the little kid table. You have no chance of becoming President.

Typical right winger approach. Create a bogus report, create bogus outrage, cut funding “for the sake of the children”. This is the ACORN all over again. The ends justify the means.

Why do people of those states elect cretins such as Jindal? Don’t they get that Jindal and ilk don’t care about the poor and middle class?

Whoops, too late to get you into the Fox debate Bobby! Nice try though.

This is why:

Because they convince those very middle class and poor people that those who have less than they do are all undeserving moochers, and that Democrats will give them “free stuff.” That is it in a nutshell. They are actually very good at it. It keeps their voting base angry, afraid, and in line; and lets their financial base laugh all the way to the bank.
