Ryan, proving his incompetent bona fides again!
He made a bunch or promises and kept none of them. Given heâs a GOPâer thereâs not much of a story there.
Humm, not a leader after all.
Iâll take it a step further⌠Itâs worse for Ryan because now that theyâve killed one speakership, theyâve tasted blood and will be far less hesitant to do it again. The party negotiated with hostage takers by pressuring Boehner to step down, and now the hostage takers are emboldened to make bigger and bigger demands. Plus, it doesnât help that Ryan is still young and hasnât spent nearly the time in the House to have built the kind of relationships Boehner had, and Iâm sure thereâs a certain amount of natural resentment by older, long serving members who feel he hasnât paid his dues.
That is a huge problem exasperated by his disdain for doing the actual Speaker job of building relationships, wooing people and bending arms, counting votes and raising money. Ryan wants to be a policy wonk, and give big fluffy cloud vision speeches. That isnât what is requires of a successful SpeakerâŚits kind of the exact opposite.
He ainât herding cats. The dysfunction is self-inflicted.
Any article about Ryanâs speakership and the âdifficultiesâ he has that doesnât mention his adherence to the Hastert âruleâ is by definition incomplete and misleading.
You know jerk-off, if you compromised with the other elected representatives - the dems (I know thatâs swearing to re-pukes), you could actually run the government, get a budget through since you wouldnât need to ass lick the baggers.
And all this headache and drama would disappear!
I love the headlineâŚboner sized problem! HA!
âThat has taken pressure off of the budget situation and that is one of the challenges we are dealing with.â
Uh, no. The real challenge (which you are totally avoiding) is that youâre the leader of a Majority Party in the House that has almost no interest in the actual process of governing.
Love the word horseshit. I think itâs woefully underused.
As he said, pretending to have no interest in running for president, thereâs plenty of work to be done in the house.
There really is a large part of the Republican caucus that is as dumb as a box of rocks. It is hard to get them to pass anything.
All good points, but it is even worse than that. By getting rid of pork, speakers have lost their most effective tool for controlling wayward house members. There is no reward for being a loyal follower. Now the most junior member can thumb his nose at the speaker and the speaker canât do a thing to bring him in line.
As many of the junior loons have discovered it is more important that they get time on right wing talk radio and prove their tea party loyalty than they actually legislate. Legislating is hard. Blowing smoke is easy and far more rewarding these days.
I canât even decipher what that is supposed to mean. If there is already an agreement in law, then whatâs the problem?
Ryan is going to be just as big of a failure as Boehner was. There is no controlling the House GOP.Full of wingnutsâŚhard core right wing extremists. These people would love to just destroy the government if they can not remake it to their own specifications.
Have fun leading your Animal House.
It has to do with arcane house rules. For years now the government has operated under continuing resolutions and separate funding packages. The congress hasnât passed an actual budget bill.
SoâŚthe set-up for the budget was left by Boehner for Ryan but he canât get the Republican members to agree to it? Is that the gist of it?
Bless his heart
Most conservatives donât trust Paul Ryan.
Money to fund the government through the rest of Obamaâs term was passed as Boehner left. That deal was intended to allow Ryan some breathing room and to keep 2016 from becoming another nightmare. Ryan is a big believer in budgets. He can do nothing and the government will keep running without a hitch, but he wants a budget.
Couldnât have happened to a better guy.
Cheers Mr. Speaker!
