Oh, Schmidt will do anything for a big paycheck and to keep himself relevant.
That’s funny! So his schtick is that we have to elect him first and then he’ll tell us what he’s gonna do?!?! Yeah, that’ll get folks really excited!
“Trust me!”
This take is mistaken. And it’s evident in generality of the language used.
Note he says that the disaffected centrist Dem would vote Republican. That’s believable. But if he more specific formulation of that sentence is the disaffected centrist Dem would vote Trump. That is beyond unbelievable.
If the argument is that Trump won’t stand for re-election, sure, but st that point things are already so unexpected there is no point in speculating right now.
I believe this is a way for Steve Schmidt to play both sides—he can still act virulently anti-Trump but get himself back in the good graces of the Republican Party by getting Trump re-elected.
Unless Mann Coulter is the Independant candidate.
Mann Coulter/Shammity 2020!QrREW$#@wQASQ1!wq!!!
spread the word
Those billionaires must be really terrified of Warren winning and taxing them.
Mmmm…I doubt that.
Really? Cause I agree with pluckyinky. Schmidt’s contempt and loathing for Trump is no secret.
More than most of us though? Okay, I’ll admit, I was thinking of TPMers, not America as an ‘us.’ I think, in general, the feeling of most TPMers is that they wouldn’t mind if…er…no. I can’t say that, even here! Lets just say it white hot and pokey
I can’t say for sure of course - I mean, in general here the level of dislike it pretty fucking high. hahahahahahaha
Right, but he’s desperate to save what’s left of the Republican Party after Trump got his hands on it. There are people out there who will happily re-register as republicans once a more palatable candidate comes along, someone far less likely to say nasty things out loud and be more “presidential.”
I’ve seen nothing to give me any indication he’s remotely interested in being back in their good graces. He thinks the party is dead and believes it’s a well deserved death.
No, actually he doesn’t believe it can be saved or should be saved. He wants it to die. That’s why he registered as an Independent. He’s finished with the party.
He wants the party the way it was before Trump came along. I am very skeptical that it will die.
What on earth made you think there was anything left of the Republican party?
It’s all Trump, all the time now—no longer a political party, the GOP is now a cult of personality.
It’s there, waiting for Trump to go away. You think a new party will emerge? Okay, but it will be named the New Republican Party.
Bloomberg has more sense than I thought he had. Hurray for good things!
Not just Warren herself, but of the Dems adopting her super-rich tax plan, which seems to be quite popular. Three days after she announces it, a billionaire comes along, touting his Democratic bonafides, ranting about universal healthcare costs and the deficit? That’s a helluva coincidence.
