Discussion: Bipartisan Governors Group: 'Shutdown Should Not Be A Negotiating Tactic'

Little late to the party with this statement. Shutdowns over the past 10 years or so have become the de facto highly publicized, negotiating tactic of the GOP.

Mommie’s Dearest doesn’t have a clue and his thinking is in sharp contrast to people who work for a living and bipartisan governors.

This is real simple and I’m sure the Dems will say it after the idiot speaks tonight.

Now that you created the humanitarian crisis at the border, you must take the remaining funds you already have and care for the people you have put at risk.

And, not another dime until you agree to open the government across the board.

“In the letter, the governors don’t take a stance on whether a wall should be built on the border with Mexico —”

A week ago the House passed bills to reopen government. They are identical to what passed in the Senate prior to the shutdown. All Mitch needs to do is bring those bills to the floor for a vote. They will pass and if POTUS uses a veto then over ride him.

ETA: Republicans cannot govern and POTUS is incompetent.

"Bipartisan Governors Group: ‘Shutdown Should Not Be A Negotiating Tactic’

Well duh. Shutting down the government became the default way government works when the Republicans decided that it was their way or the highway and refused to negotiate with Democrats. They have pretty much been the only ones taking hostages since they started doing it years ago. Trump has just taken it to a new level. This is what happens when you demonize the other side. This is what happens when you pay more attention to media mouths than you do legislators. This is what happens when appearing on talk radio or some cable channel is easier and more fun than working in a committee trying to make both sides equally happy or at least equally unhappy while actually solving a problem.

Hundreds of thousands of federal employees are either working without pay or furloughed. Government contractors will not get paid. Services for millions are disrupted and Pompeo laughs.

I read the article, Pence sounds like he is Iva Toguri D’Aquino (Tokyo Rose) telling US marines that everything would be alright if they just surrendered. No offer to find a middle ground or any ground.

OT In case you weren’t aware, today is

National ‘Crash Their Switchboard’ Day

CBS (888) 274-5343
ABC (212) 456-7777
NBC (212) 664-4444

Fun Fact: Four years ago, all the broadcast networks declined to air a primetime address on immigration from President Barack Obama because its content was considered too “overtly political.”

Question.

How can we say we have three Co-equal branches of government, when one branch can throw a temper tantrum, and shut down the court system for lack of money allocated by the third branch?

The presidency seems tailor-made for a despot.

It is if you got nothing to offer and/or need a distraction. This is 1000% a WH made up crisis.

There is a check on despots built in to the system. Unfortunately, it’s not being used.

Thanks, Guardians Of Predators.

Trump: What, that 94% I haven’t spent must go for Mels next facelift…that is most important.

It’s not just federal workers and courts: there is a little organization called “NASA” that has contracts with universities to do research and work on current space missions. They will begin running out of money by the end of this month and who knows if departments and their universities have any backstop measures in place.

It is OK, Trump is going to make a damn fools of himself anyway.

The GOP can’t govern so it is a simple matter for them to make sure nobody else can…

Shutting down the U.S. Government for political reasons, and/or conspiring to do so should be a criminal offense – a felony. And most certainly, an impeachable offense. PERIOD.
