Discussion: Billionaire Tom Steyer Will Not Run In 2020, Focusing On Impeaching Trump

Excellent news! I’d MUCH rather that he spent his time and money on helping Democrats get elected this year and next. If impeachment is going to happen it will be as a result of the Mueller report. If Steyer wants to spend his money on ad blitz after the report, well, I’m OK with that too.

ditto, excellent news! He would have been a distraction, and was unelectable. Please give your $$$$ to candiates/advertisements, not impeachment.

Yep, and he would’ve spent a shit ton of money that could’ve been better used to support other candidates.

I’d also like to see some of that money go to helping immigrants and needy folks losing jobs because of Trump’s policies.

He should have done a joint announcement with Biden.

Good choice, Tom. Now put that money where it will do good, like toward supporting viable Dem candidates.

Good. Now spend money on winning local elections in 2019 so we can protect against the Trumpists screwing with the Census.

Impeachment will happen or not happen with or without his money.

I bet Hillay’s goons threatened him. Oh, sorry, wrong election

As others have said, Steyer made a good choice. His energy, funds, and focus are far more advantageous to supporting the causes he represents than being put to the service of a candidacy that would most likely fail and reduce his base of support, and influence, in the process.

A good move on Mr. Steyer’s part. On one hand, teasing the issue raised his profile. On the other hand, “need to impeach” and progressive Congressional PACs are quite helpful. And unlike the Kochs, he’s a much better spokesperson.
