Discussion: Billionaire GOPer Rauner Wants You To Know He Has A Trashcan Van (VIDEO)

Discussion for article #227292

Actually he’s working this from both ends : the guy belongs to an exclusive $100k wine club as well as wanting to do away with the minimum wage. What a perfect candidate! Was Maria Antoinette not available this cycle?

It just proves he’s too cheap to buy a newer car.

Who wouldn’t want to get rid of the minimum wage? Once you hit thirty, you’re a loser!

I am surprised that this race is not closer by looking at the devastating ads ran against Rauner. But if PPP says it is not close, then I need to face reality.

That being said, I think Rauner is a lame duck as long as Dems have a super majority type stranglehold on both the Ill House and Senate. I do not see Speaker Madigan compromising with this rich, out of touch prick.

The hucksterism of this ad would piss me off if I was an Illinois voter. But maybe that’s just me.

There’s still time, but I’m fairly nervous that the mushy middle’s gonna swing Rauner’s way, as sad for Illinois politics as that would be.

I could be wrong, but that appears to be an older VW Eurovan.
If so, takes a billionaire to repair one.

Had one.

If he’s looking for junky props to give him the gloss of a common man, I’ve got a few he might be interested in. Hell, I’d probably trade my car for a half-case of his “every day” wine.

He lives in a van down by the river, made of gold.

Actually, when I saw the badge, I assumed the van could become the center of an ad on his poor judgement.

I would be surprised if this guy did not win. Gov. Quinn is pretty unpopular here.
After Blago and Quinn, I can see why many people here would like to see Quinn out… and someone else in as Governor.
Although I am not a big fan of Quinn, he will still get my vote.
We will have to see how he well Rauner works with our House and Senate.
This is NOT Indiana !!!

Gee, I am so relieved he could afford a van.
And peanut butter.

It’s the automotive equivalent to explaining that you’re not racist because you have a black friend.

“No really…look…I can’t be an elitist prick that wants to ruin the lives of poor people…one of my cars is a total piece of shit! See?”

I am an Illinois voter and it does. His wealth is not the problem - his belief that working folks don’t need or deserve a minimum wage is. This ad is shallow and tries to use an irrelevant prop to change his image. He should be losing by double digits, but Quinn is not very popular.

Alot of anti-incumbency driving this race. Rauner’s ads have played on this by pressing term limits, and showing Quinn side by side with Mike Madigan. Not sure that is a winning ad campaign but Quinn is not the most likeable candidate, even among Democrats.

He can still win though. He has to keep hammering this scumbag on the offshore holdings, outsourcing company he owned and he absolutely MUST demand that he produce his tax returns. Much like Romney, I guarantee this guy has paid little to no federal taxes for quite some time.

you get to be an even bigger loser …if you vote republicon…

Governors seem inclined to avoid the governor’s mansion so they can say, “See, I live at home, just like you little people!” He’s going to move to the mansion to be a little guy.

Is that anything like that pick-up truck Scott Walker used?
