Since minting this coin would do about as much good for breast cancer victims as not minting it I figure not minting it would be the way to go. Also, people on both sides of the abortion issue have qualms about the Komen foundation. No doubt it would have cost something to mint this coin. Repurposing the funds to medical research would be preferable.

My issue is with Komen not with Planned Parenthood. Komen has some pretty shitty practices and some major issues to address before I would be willing to support such a coin.

The Komen Foundation’s main goal is to continue the existence of the Komen Foundation.
There are far better fundraisers to contribute to for this cause.

good. fuck komen. i regularly donate to planned parenthood knowing that most of my money goes to providing health services including abortions to women in need. donating to komen provides salaries to rightwingers running what i’d call a fake charity.

Planned Parenthood is the civil war flag of the righties. They hate the mere mention because they are preprogrammed to. It’s a trigger word like, black, welfare, liberal, social, peace.
Controversy is inevitable, the crazies aren’t going to wise up. There is no need and zero to gain by pushing their buttons. The attempt was made and the foreseeable outcome happened, time to move on.

Maybe a reparation coin that was valued higher for blacks only, that would totally be uncontroversial. Joking because our opponents are clowns.
