Discussion for article #230200
Pathetic hypocrite. Can dish out the UT but can’t take any personal accountability himself.
D
you got it.
I’ve met Bill and have dined with him and his family a few times back in the 1970s and 1980s.
He’s been a different man and pretty much crushed since his son Ennis was murdered in was murdered in the late nineties. That broke his back.
Wonderful person and a very strong family man.
I have no idea, and neither do YOU, if he’s guilty or innocent of these accusations. All I’m saying is that from my personal experience I really doubt it.
And why is this very Huff Post/National Enquirer worthy article showing up on TPM?
Slow news day?
I was annoyed with Scott Simon’s ambush question. The story was about the Cosby’s art collection and Simon took it off topic with a gotcha question. There should be a discussion about the rape accusations, but that interview was not it. I don’t know what he expected Cosby to say but the question shut the interview down.
The point is his lack of personal accountability of the situation. He’s always at the ready shooting off his UT mouth judging others and giving passes to those with their feet on the necks of those still at the bottom. Where’s that personal accountability from his side in addressing the allegations whether they be true or not? That’s the troubling aspect, not whether we know if he’s guilty or not. Then again, who knows if anybody’s guilty or not of anything ever. Still doesn’t stop him though from assuming all poor blacks in the ghetto are guilty of their own circumstances. What’s good for the goose and the gander and all that stuff, I say.
What ambush? What rule says that Cosby gets to dictate the topic of conversation? He’s only been in show business how many decades? Four, five? He doesn’t yet know how journalism works?
??? He did not say a word. He has that right. Where does it say it you sit down for an interview on art, you have to answer off topic questions? Yes, they have a right to ask, and he has a right to not answer.
Care to cite where he said that ALL poor blacks in the ghetto are guilty of their own circumstances? Because you just made that up.
Did I indicate he was compelled to answer? Don’t think so.
I would not call it an ambush question. More like a stupid question. And he did the right thing, he just ignored the stupidity. If they asked a question about his athletic ability, that also would be a stupid question. The topic was art.
If Obama is being interviewed about an issue and gets asked if he was born in Kenya, does he have to answer it? Of course not.
Exactly. I crack up at these people who say there are several accusations, and where there is smoke, there is fire. Meanwhile I’ve heard hundreds of people say Obama was born in Kenya, is a communist, a Muslim, etc. So I guess it must be true since a lot of people are saying it.
Bill Clinton went through this same BS.
True, but you did say “that’s how journalism works”. Well, that’s not how it works. A good journalist interviewing a person about an art exhibition does not stray into territory like that when there is ZERO proof that there is any legitimacy to the accusations. That’s not the kind of journalism I expect from NPR. That’s sophomoric National Enquirer BS. You ask intelligent questions about the subject at hand.
You’re confusing journalism with taking dictation.
You’re feigning to not know this is Cosby’s big spiehl pandering to the RW nutjobs? Nice try, dude. Nice try at projection, as clearly you’re the one making things up. It is what is it dude. It’s charitable of you to try to defend the indefensible, but it’s a losing battle dude, as Cosby himself couldn’t be bothered to defend himself. That’s why he stayed um, mum. LOL Nice try anyway.
LOL. Wow. HAHA. So responding to real allegations from FOURTEEN real living women accusing Cosby of assault is the same as some la la land fantasy about Obama being born in Kenya when he has proof of a Hawaiian/US birth certificate? LOL
There may be a future for you in stand up comedy after all. That’s not even a false equivalency, more like a schism in reality.
As someone who works in Hollywood, everyone here knows Cosby is a rapist and we have known for quite some time.
And he did answer the question about where he was born, MrComments. Or do you think the birth certificate was forged, too?
So you can’t cite it. Well, here are some facts:
“Cosby still lectures to black communities (usually at churches) about his frustrations with certain problems prevalent in underprivileged urban communities, such as illegal drugs; teenage pregnancy; Black Entertainment Television; high-school dropouts; anti-intellectualism; gangsta rap; vulgarity; thievery; offensive clothing; vanity; parental alienation; single-parenting; and failing to live up to the ideals of Frederick Douglass, Martin Luther King, Jr., and African-Americans who preceded Generation X.” Tell me SPECIFICALLY what is wrong with that?
Cosby has also been openly critical of conservative Republican politicians in regards to their views on socioeconomic and racial issues. In a 2013 CNN interview regarding voting rights, Cosby stated “this Republican Party is not the Republican Party of 1863, of Abraham Lincoln, abolitionists and slavery, is not good. I think it’s important for us to look at the underlying part of it. What is the value of it? Is it that some people are angry because my people no longer want to work for free?”
Tell me what part of that you have a problem with, and how that is pandering to right wing nut jobs???
Cosby helps blacks who need help, but is also fed up with punk ass ignorant blacks who don’t want help. Blacks are no different than whites. They have their versions of useless pieces of trash too. THAT is who Cosby was talking to, Not “all” blacks, as you say. And he was 100% right in doing it.
Exactly. president Obama answered that answer frequently and even posted his birth certificate on mugs and other items during the 2012 campaign.
