What I have learned since the election:
Trump appeals to angry white men with high school educations.
Democratic policies do not.
Therefore, the Democrats need to change everything for which they stand 180°. When they do so, they will be popular again.
This is what I have learned, because this is what the media has told me.
i tend to agree.
This is also why plastering the airwaves with Damning Trump with His Own Words ads failed to work.
To many they were offputting. To many more, they were preaching to the angry choir.
Shoulda ran ads based on a variation of “It’s the economy, stupid”
This relates to Obama’s statement about political correctness and self victimization by the angry white males. Their anger fuels their hatred and motivated them to vote for a White, sexist, bigoted male. He spoke their language. It is our serious problem because it speaks volumns about our country.
Hard to disagree with anything Bill said. Refreshing candor, too.
Motes and beams, Bill, motes and beams.
That’s a good way to win them over.
They don’t dislike Democratic policies, insofar as they know what they are.
They hate Democrats.
Jamelle Bouie retweeted a thread about how white the world of political journalism is, how people of color who cover politics are only called on when the topic is “identity politics”, and how therefore any narrative which diverts from the main (white) one is seen as racially charged and uppity. White journalists think they’re being beneficent by occasionally acknowledging black, Latino, Asian, Muslim, LGBT Americans but never challenge the right’s contention that we’re not “real” or “everyday” Americans.
Sen. Sessions’ confirmation hearing will show us just how much the media has corrupted the higher thinking of the Democratic Party.
As an aside, I keep thinking of that WV public employee who described Michelle Obama as “a [sic] Ape in heels” and Melania Trump, a nude model, as “classy” and “dignified”. It’s so emblematic of the ~economic anxiety~.
Meaning what, exactly?
Go sit in the corner, Bill. We need to move ahead.
Angry white men, mostly uneducated mostly unemployed put their faith in a privileged white guy who’s never done a day’s honest work. Way to go.
On the contrary. Now that Hillary’s done, we finally get to find out what Out of Fucks to Give Bill Clinton sounds like. I was looking forward to it.
Like James Carville, but more charming?
Of course Team Hillary didn’t do anything wrong. People didn’t need a reason to vote FOR Hillary.
They screwed up, but she didn’t help. She needed to give all of us a reason to vote FOR her beyond her experience and gender.
I’m an angry white man too. I’m angry at Bill Clinton for arranging a private meeting at an airport with Loretta Lynch right at the peak of the election run-up. He reinforced the narrative that the Clinton’s are deep inside the establishment, and routinely benefit from a privileged status. It was an incredibly tone deaf thing to do.
I also remember him making disparaging remarks about Obama during the 2008 election cycle, leading to some ugly headlines. For someone who is supposed to be a clever political animal, why can’t he learn when to shut the fuck up?
The Democratic Party needs to remember how to attract supporters and start standing up loudly for unions and workers, fight hard against all privatization of schools and public facilities, join Elizabeth Warren in fighting banks and big money, protect and Improve Medicare and Social Security, among other things. Until they can convince the average person that they will fight for a better life for middle class Americans, they will lose elections when it matters.
Less posturing, fewer excuses…more fighting.
Hard to say if this is real or fake. Regardless it’s interesting.
I cannot find anything on fact checking sites that discredit it and the article has a couple of videos of the Doctors speaking to it.
So this ain’t an article from The Onion.
Correct, but she gave us dozens of reasons anyways.
Really, the only reasons on my airways were “Trump is crazy and Trump is a crook.” The rest of the time it was crickets. If I were to see the stupid ad about “little kids are watching” one more time I would throw up. Whoever ran her campaign committed political malpractice.
Trump promised “to make America great again” whatever that means, but Hillary didn’t promise a damn thing beyond baby steps. I know she had all kinds of plans and programs but plans and programs alone don’t make a political message. Until I hear a word about her obvious failure as a candidate, it is hard to take Clinton or her supporters seriously.
