Discussion: Bill Clinton, Dick Cheney Trade Barbs Over Iraq

The fact that Cheney responded to Clinton with an unrelated personal insult (referencing Monica with his own “unseemly” comeback line) is another brick on his pyramid to obnoxiousness. The thin facade of a grim elder statesman cannot mask the bitter, conniving child within.

I can’t think of a living person who’s caused more death and misery than Dick Cheney. He’s the moral equivalent of the most grotesquely disfigured sideshow freak you could imagine, with a near Eichmann-level lack of self-awareness or remorse, and it’s just mind-boggling that he goes around criticizing flawed but decent human beings.

Cheney is more shrewd than smart.

Smart men don’t continue to believe in thoroughly disproved theories about foreign policy.

One of the things that has puzzled me about Mr. Cheney is the radical difference between how he presented during the first Gulf War as a competent, reasonable, measured Secretary of Defense, and his role as Vice President (and since) when he has been devious, over the top, and downright mean and vindictive.

Was the difference solely due to who was president? Or did he undergo some fundamental character change? Or am I missing something?

“[Cheney] … seemed to suggest that the United States faced a deadly attack on its home soil within the next decade.”

This is prophecy, not prediction. Any idiot can do prophecy: “The end of the world is nigh.” Yes, we could be attacked tomorrow, next week, next year or next decade, but of what value are such kind of foretelling? What can one do – build a 1950s bomb shelter?

"If there’s somebody who knows something about unseemly, it’s Bill Clinton,”

I’m sorry–was that a Clenis allusion or just some generalized “I’m rubber and you’re glue” attempt?
Either way, you can see how well Darth Shmuck thinks on his feet.

Keep talking Dick Cheney. It just keeps reminding Americans of how much better off we are without you.

You raise a good question. My own theory, FWIW, is that the man is a psychopath and and superb opportunist.
With Bush Jr, he saw a opportunity to make lots and lots of money for himself and to create a legacy for his widow and daughters.
He’s constitutionally unable to keep quiet. He is compelled to continue justifying his devious activities under Bush Jr.

And we have always known that they are going to continue to attempt attacks, and that sooner or later one of them is going to get lucky. It will be downplayed as inevitable if it happens when a Republican president is in charge, and it will be blown out of all proportion if it happens while a Democrat is in charge.

Pssst…Hey Cheney…

SHUT. THE. FUCK. UP, ALREADY.

We get it, you’re evil. Now piss the fuck off.

Makes sense.

Sociopaths while well known as opportunists, are eminently practical as well, and won’t expose themselves to risk unnecessarily.

I can imagine that President Bush, Sr., in combination with Colin Powell (who was responsible for implementation of directives, and therefore able to apply brakes when necessary) provided sufficient contextual constraints to keep him under control.

But under President Bush, Jr, there were no boundaries on his behavior.

Uh, the guy’s a war criminal.
We’ve been attacking him with wit and rhetorical skills for more than a decade, and it’s had roughly the effect you’d expect if Israel had told Eichmann “If we find you guilty, we will bad-mouth you. Like, a lot!
What we need is for Cheney to face real penalties for his crimes.

When your own heart dies, it is unlikely that the heart from another who’s whole body died will be a saintly one. Karma. These hungry ghosts live in the irreconcilable and unpardonable fear of Divine Justice. How can this kind of behavior be otherwise explained?

Regarding the Dick Cheney: The last hurrah for this sociopath should have been when they rolled his broken-down ass away after Obama’s inauguration.

Yep. True equivalence. Blow job = 100s of 1000s of dead people, trillions wasted, and Iraq in bloody civil war.

“If there’s somebody who knows something about unseemly, it’s Bill Clinton,”

Getting blown by a 21-year-old IS pretty unseemly, all right. Almost as unseemly as shooting your friend in the face.

I think it’s unseemly to trot out your unaccomplished daughter and talk seditious trash about the president. I think it’s unseemly to let nepotism guide your decision making in world politics. I think it’s unseemly Lynn is a harridan who yelled “Shut up!!!” five times at a former Senator. I think it was unseemly you picked yourself for vice president and could only say “So?” when asked about the devastating carnage we wreaked on Iraq.

The 21 year old consented, the friend didn’t and became another of Cheney victims.

And probably the only reason they are against abortions is because they want those children to use in their next war.

A really wonderful and fitting visual to the end of the reign of the bush crime family
