Discussion: Biden To Use His Own Record To Bash GOP Senate On SCOTUS Blockade

But…but…Biden rule! The dastardly rule that singlehandedly prevented all previous nominees to the court since the beginning of time. I don’t have time to check the validity of that because I’m busy with my fingers in my ears and my head in a hole in the ground.

Every single time, Biden says.

But the GOP is absolutely corrupt, unlike the the Dems. The GOP politicizes almost everything, if it sees partisan advantage. The GOP is not patriotic about the US, it acts only its own self-interest no matter how much damage it causes to America.

I like Joe generally, but his incompetence long ago helped place buffoon Clarence Thomas on the Supreme Court. This I cannot forgive.

41 of 43 Republicans voted yes on Thomas. As did 11, yes 11, Democrats. Biden voted no. Thomas was confirmed 52-48. So blame the Democrats who voted yes. Not Biden. If just 3 of those 11 had voted no, Thomas would have been rejected. Hell, even Bob Packwood voted no on Thomas.

I don’t like the man at all. Biden was a key supporter of an industry-favorite bill, the “Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005”, that actually made it harder for consumers to get protection under bankruptcy. He is far, far too cozy with the credit card companies, MBNA in particular, for my liking.

Yes, it is fair to point out that others, not Biden, voted Thomas in. But the charge against him was his failure to bring out all the evidence during the hearings (which might have changed some of those votes).

Biden presided over those hearings as chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, blamed for doing little to stop the attacks on Hill and opting not to call three other witnesses who would have echoed Hill’s charges of sexual harassment. Biden almost apologetically gave Thomas the benefit of the doubt, critics say, and that stance helped put Thomas on the Supreme Court.

Perhaps not surprising since he is from Delaware. The state has made easy corp registration a major industry. To his credit he also championed the Violence Against Women act.

I find Uncle Joe to be a real mixed bag!

This is the problem Bernie keeps hammering on. To gain and stay in power in Washington requires powerful sponsors. Almost every senator and representative is compromised because of this, and even if they individually aren’t, their party is. It’s why nearly every single law that’s passed favors some large economic interest. Laws that merely address common folks’ problems but generate no income for a large organization have almost no chance of being passed.

Broken record here: get big money out of politics.

1000% correct. I cannot forgive him and other Dems Clarence Thomas.

The Bush crime family too, obviously.
