Discussion: Biden: 'Sorry I Didn't Understand More, I'm Not Sorry For Any Of My Intentions'

Hey editors, I think we have plenty of Biden stories today already…

Huh. A literal sorry-not-sorry. I guess he really is your straight-shooter, unvarnished type.

I wish Joe would figure out for himself that time has passed him by in terms of running for president, rather than having to be reminded of it on a daily basis in the press.

Will there ever be a time when people understand that nobody gives a shit about your intentions? Your intentions have nothing to do with how what you did was perceived. Particularly with physical contact. I don’t like any physical contact- hugs, whatever. I don’t even want to shake hands with people. All that addendum does is show you don’t take the matter seriously, that you think it’s an inconvenience. It’s trivializing the offense because you don’t understand how someone could be offended by what you did. Biden is showing he doesn’t have the goods- I really need a president with some modicum of self-reflection ability next time.

HAHAHAHA! And he keeps it alive for another 24 while stepping in it yet again! What a campaign genius! What next? Stating that he’s going to start grabbing them in the you-know-what as a way to be bipartisan, “reach” across the aisle and win over Republican’t voters?

I’m not sorry that his candidacy will flame out and be embarrassing for him. I’m not sorry for supporting other (younger, less creepy) candidates. I have never disliked Biden intentionally. I’ve been generally positively inclined toward his multiple presidential attempts since I was in high school for God’s sakes.

It’s the universe’s way of telling Joe that he should start enjoying retirement…

This is political malpractice Joe. You’re still not getting it.

“I’m sorry I didn’t understand more, I’m not sorry for any of my intentions,” he said. “I’ve never been disrespectful intentionally to a man or a woman.”

At the end of the clip, Biden says: “I’m not sorry for anything I’ve ever done”

in other words, he still doesn’t get it.

I assume we shouldn’t be afraid to let the Democratic primaries decide whether or not this is Biden’s time. I’d like the opportunity to cast that vote in my state. And as for me, I believe that it isn’t even a close call. I’ve listened to all the announced candidates, I think that Biden is right on the issues. I think he is right on the ability to get things done as president. And I think he is the most likely one - by far - to hold the states that Hillary won and to flip those three or four midwstern states that Hillary lost by a whisker, because he makes more sense to those folks than anyone else. If the Democratic primaries should choose otherwise, I will certainly vote for that candidate against Trump.

Just curious. Were you for Biden before this flap, and then switched. Or were against Biden before and you are still against him. A serious question. Thanks.

Biden has come under fire from some on the left as well as conservatives, trolls, and bots for his past history of invading others’ personal space and not apologizing for it.

Fixed.

I’m curious about the number of women voters vs. men voters. Since this is a gender related issue and women ran for office and won in 2018 in record numbers, marched by the millions in 2017, and are still reeling from the treatment of Hillary by her opponents, the media, Comey, Trump, and Bernie and his primarily male vocal supporters, it seems like an important variable.

Women are awoke to misogyny and sexism like never before and I do not see their anger, concern and angst from our situation in our culture diminishing.

If the primaries operated as a level playing field, I might agree. However, that’s not how it works. If Biden enters the race, as a famous politician he will attract a disproportionate amount of media attention and funding. Biden’s entry would just make it harder for anyone else to break out of this ridiculously crowded field.

He can’t win the primary (IMO), so this is basically an ego-driven project that will delay the whole process of finding our best candidate. The only silver lining, is that as the default Establishment candidate he would draw most of Bernie’s fire away from everyone else. That would be fun to watch. Still not a good enough reason to run, I think.

I agree 100 percent. He doesn’t get it and what’s more he doesn’t WANT to get it. I regularly interact with a guy who is all touchy-feely with men and women alike. I’m also a guy and am squeamish at his lack of physical boundaries; he finally got the hint and clearly his feelings were hurt that I didn’t like unsolicited back rubs. He tried to hug my friend the other day and she cleverly managed to position herself so a chair was in between him and her and he could barely reach her. This guy is MUCH younger than Biden but the same lack of self-awareness is present (he seems to think he’s spreading good vibes!). And there was a certain amount of defensiveness when he got called on it. But at least now he just shakes my hand instead of some sort of space invasion.

It seems like it would be prudent for Biden to, at some point, say something like “I’ve said my bit about interactions in the past, now let’s talk about blah blah something future”. Repeatedly discussing various facets of past behavior, frequently emphasizing what your intentions were rather than how the other party interpreted it… what’s the goal or plan here? Is there one?

Apologize, or don’t, and then move the hell on.

This is literally the first time he’s talked about it in a live setting since this blew up.
