Discussion for article #247067
You know itâs bad when Ronald Reagan is too coherent for the Republican Party.
Itâs like unelecting Jesus from the leadership of Christianity.
And twice as stupid.
Reagan on amnesty for Illegal immigrantsâŚ
âI supported this bill. I believe in the idea of amnesty for those who have put down roots and who have lived here even though sometime back they may have entered illegally.â â
Oh, I donât know, Joe. It seems that Zombies are a lot more popular than Republicans right now.
Ten points that irritate the sh*t out of BonzoRonnieâs Rightie worshippers today. Mention them frequently when in the company of Rightie Nutballs.
- Reagan was a serial tax raiser.
- Reagan nearly tripled the federal budget deficit.
- Unemployment soared after Reaganâs 1981 tax cuts.
- Reagan grew the size of the federal government tremendously.
- Reagan did very little to fight against a womanâs right to choose.
- Reagan wrote that â[m]y dreamâŚbecame a world free of nuclear weapons.â
- Reagan gave amnesty to more than 3 million undocumented immigrants.
- Reagan vetoed a comprehensive anti-Apartheid act.
- Reagan helped create the Taliban and Osama Bin Laden.

Thatâs already been tried! But only by the âknow everythingsâ of the GOP.
And Bill Clinton governed to the Right of Richard Nixon (certainly on economic issues);
and Dwight Eisenhower and Bernie Saunders could have been running mates.
Weâve been on a relentless downhill slide for a long timeâŚ
Donât forget that Reagan enacted his very own healthcare mandate â requiring hospital emergency rooms to admit all regardless of ability to pay.
And negotiated with terrorists â in post-revolutionary Iran
Due to demographics, Reagan could also not win the general today. If his percentages of each demographic in his 1980s wins were applied to todayâs electorate heâd go down hard
name one previous republican president who could get the GOP nomination today.
Yeah, but you know who could win the GOP/Teatroll primary?
Do ya?
You know?
GuessâŚ
âŚcome oooooonâŚguessâŚ
Oh ja ich tatâŚ
OH JA ICH TAT!!!
Coolidge, possibly - he was anti-immigrant enough, to be sure, and his policies did a pretty good job destroying the economy, but far from a sure thing, because he wasnât racist enough.
chile please Jesus Christ himselfâŚhe of the bronze skin and wooly hair (look it up)âŚcouldnât win the noimination
Great call. One problem though: Say what you want about Silent Cal, he wasnât a profane, loudmouthed braggart.
I have to respectfully disagree with my man Joe Biden on this one.
Todayâs Reagan would certainly be a front-runner with the new GOP!
The Brady Bill.
It depends
The vagueness is intentional.
Itâs even worse than that:
Reagan and Bush may as well have been liberals when it came to immigration!
He cut and run after the Beriut bombing of the marineâs barracks.
