Keep driving this point home, everyone. Also, the bonespurs draft dodging scam.
I thouht Biden couldāve used the opportunity to demonstrate his strength in foreign policy. This statement is not that strong IMHO.
Hit him again, Joe.
Next time, do it like you mean it though. We all know that you have no more fucks to give.
Donald isnāt anything close to a marketing genius, any more than is a madman who shoots up school kids for fame.
Not only are Trumpās comments beneath the dignity of the office, Trumpās entire being is beneath the dignity of the office.
A foreign policy statement would have been ignored even before the author of the statement hit āSubmit.ā
That was a foreign policy statement. It was a rejection of cozying up to dictators and ignoring human rights violations (the āmurderousā adjective).
It was a good response from his team. Every campaignās job is to draw a contrast with the polices of the other side, so thatās what they did instead of focusing on the low IQ slur.
I know it seems as if Trump can glide away from almost any offensive, disgusting remark that he makes, but I think this will go down as his biggest overseas mistake since he humiliated America at Helsinki. It just adds to the list of things heās said or done that demonstrate his unfitness for office, and I think most Americans will say enough in 2020
Keep the pressure on, team Biden. He has no defense for this.
Of course, following standard bothsiderism, WaPoās headlineā¦
Fuck you, WaPo.
Trump fears Biden, because Biden polls the best against Trump, beating him by 8.1% in the RCP aggregate, but more like 10% if you drop out the Junk Ras polls. In contrast Sanders only beats Trump by 4.8% in the RCP aggregate.
Biden does a full 4-5+% better than any other democrat.
This is why Trump is always saying how unfairly Sanders is being treated, and now why he is attacking Biden.
However, Trumpās in-ability to control his impulses is simply helping Biden. Biden would love nothing else more than to get into a slugging match with Trump. The party wants to see this. Biden should be taking advantage of Trumpās raging narcasism and lack of focus more than he already is. Hit back hard and see if he can prevoke Trump some more.
Looks like Bill Barr is going to have to open an investigation of Joe Biden.
In a statement, a campaign spokesperson said that Trumpās comments are ābeneath the dignity of the office.ā
I assume that this was from the Biden campaigns Department of Redundancy Departmentā¦
and Iām sorry, but ābeneath the dignity of the officeā is weak. Call him āa pathetic narcissistic whose addiction to flattery put our national security at risk.ā
Actually I didnāt mean Biden should detail his policies. It just seems to me that this statement could come from anyone who defends Biden but didnāt clearly show his strength, and therefore didnāt differentiate him from other candidates.
It did express a different view of foreign policy from Trump, but I was expecting the statement to include some of Bidenās accomplishments. Maybe thatāll be too long for a statement though.
Doing your part to make perfect the enemy of good. Bidenās rebuttal was just fine.
Finally, a Democrat who knows how to counter punch.
I think this will be just another inappropriate comment made by that asshole that will be lost in the catalog of other inappropriate comments he will make through out the run up to the 2020 election. He has normalized abhorrent behavior and thought.
Trumpās constantly calls other people ālow IQā or something similar. Itās so frequent that you have to wonder how often he was told this. It must have hurt every time, since he doles it out as if itās a really hard-hitting insult, when in fact it sounds like a schoolyard taunt.
āTo be on foreign soil, on Memorial Day, and to side repeatedly with a murderous dictator against a fellow American and former Vice President speaks for itself,ā the statement reads. āAnd itās part of a pattern of embracing autocrats at the expense of our institutions ā whether taking Putinās word at face value in Helsinki or exchanging ālove lettersā with Kim Jon Un.ā
Unlike some others, Iām giving this statement 6/10.
-
This was real gaffe by Trump. Even Fox was taken aback. The statement should amplify Trumpās problems and drive the news. It doesnāt. Itās simply too vague and boilerplate. Itās designed to put the whole episode to bed.
-
Very little about Trump āspeaks for itself.ā Even less about Joe Biden speaks for itself. Biden has to draw the contrast between himself and Trump clearly and memorably.
-
āItās part of a pattern of embracing autocrats at the expense of our institutions.ā This is simply too abstract and basically makes not much sense. I canāt think of any regular person who thinks that āembracing autocrats at the expense of our institutionsā is whatās wrong with Trump.
-
āwhether taking Putinās word at face value in Helsinki or exchanging ālove lettersā with Kim Jon Un.ā This is insider baseball. I would guess that 7 out of 10 Americans have no idea what this is referring to.
Communications 101 suggests:
(1) a simple master narrativeāAmerica has lost its way under Trump; maybe this is because Trump is mentally unwell; and
(2) responding in a way that dovetails with the master narrative.
Therefore:
āTo be on foreign soil, on Memorial Day, and to side repeatedly with a murderous dictator, a dictator who threatens our country with nuclear annihilation, against a fellow Americanāitās simply unheard of. It makes me worry: not for myself but for our country; and also, quite frankly, for Mr Trump. Heās been saying and doing things that even his supporters find worrying. I pray for him and I pray for our country.ā
That would put the cat amongst the pigeons and amplify a conversation a lot of Americans have been having.
Iām gonna differ on this one, I think they did a good job. Short, concise, and to the point.
No need to give Trump lots of material in the response which he could twist around and go after.
