That’s possible, but these kinds of phishing attacks can also be way more sophisticated than that. Let’s say you have a legitimate bill to pay, and you get a forged email giving you the wrong account to wire the money to. Are you going to necessarily check all the digits with the person you think you’ve been corresponding with for months?
I’m a little surprised there’s no insurance coverage for things like this.

So, they got 250,000 from supporters, that they squandered due to incredible stupidity? What kind of moron wires $250,000 on the basis of an email? What kind of an inept idiot runs an organization with this kind of poor organization?
Phishing attacks are sophisticated. Sending someone $250,000 on the basis of an email, without doing sensible checks on this request, is not excusable.
Plus Sanders has concealed it for almost 2 years, getting more money from chumps.
