Discussion for article #242597
Future Sean Hannity intern.
This school sounds like it has a pretty small but vocal racist contingent. Good to see that a majority( and diverse!) amount of the students are standing up against this nonsense.
Man!
That dude in the front row with the shades (gafas) was ME 50 years ago. Like me (50 years ago) “most” of my mind was on the injustice.
If racism can exist on Planet Berkeley then it can thrive elsewhere Justice Roberts.
“… the message was found to originate from the HSYR (High School Young Republicans) dedicated computer…”
Charges?
Better keep these people away from the youtube comments section.
They’re anything but vocal. They’ve been sneaking around in the shadows. I’m betting single kid or a small clique of boys under 16. Stupid little trolls who think they’re being funny or, at best (and its not good),responding to bullying by stereotyping.
Man, could they have wimped out any harder on stating the actual text of what was said?
“The Klan gonna hang some niggaz” or what?
Several whites aggressive against blacks. Probably more, then.
I’ve lived in Berkeley…that stupid shit certainly isn’t a majority view…
it’s just a reminder that a 15 year-old can make a stupid choice ANYWHERE
(and it would be a mistake to pretend that it means too much)
When the school administation ignores intelligent students, it’s time for students to school each other on, grass roots change/orginaization/ implimentation. F*uck the Administration. It’s the squeaky pups that gets the snausages.
Bone to pick, AP Writer. You said:
Berkeley High School and the city of Berkeley are well-known as places that celebrate diversity and champion civil rights.
Berkeley is my home town. What’s well-known is that UC Berkeley, particularly Sproul Plaza, is a place where protests and free speech have been celebrated since the 1960’s. High school students know it (which is why they walked five blocks up Bancroft Way from BHS to Sproul Plaza to stage their protest rally) even if you don’t.
