politics corrupts
“Some people say” that they are heroic. “Some other people say” they turned ass and ran.
and in this case, it probably pays well.
Lying Trump has liars at his convention. Who woulda thunk it?
“But multiple fact-checking outlets have found no evidence that such an order was given.”
The House Intelligence Committee, Washington Post, and Politifact are part of the Hillary conspiracy.
Clearly, the only objective sources are a couple of private, for-profit contractors with a partisan axe to grind.
This is today’s GOP. Lie for profit. Noone will ever question the facts. They know their marks very well.
“Stand down order be damned, we took off and left, we weren’t waiting no more," he continued.
So in their fevered dreams, they disobeyed a direct military order that didn’t exist. Any chance of a post-service dishonorable discharge? Sure, it would be crap prosecution, but I’d love to hear the defense.
why would private security contractors have ANY involvement in a military deployment?
especially, as they claim, that they disobeyed orders… no command discipline…
I’m guessing these two talked a bit more than their former commanders would have preferred. Lots of bragging.
These guys were also down the food chain and would have heard any ‘orders’ from their peers or immeidate superiors- also low on the ranking chain. If they heard anything, it was scuttlebutt, rumor. Also, they didn’t work for the State Dept.
From Mein Kampf…
...In the big lie there is always a certain force of credibility; because the broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods. It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and waver and will continue to think that there may be some other explanation. For the grossly impudent lie always leaves traces behind it, even after it has been nailed down....
It’s the GOP convention - facts and truth are not welcome there.
I mean, really. Does it make any difference to Trump voters. They could claim that they both saw Hillary, wearing a black patent leather cat suit and scuba flippers, swoop down in a flying saucer piloted by space aliens, and then, observed her personally firing the gamma ray capacitor weapon that took out Chris Stevens and this crowd would believe it.
According to this article, at least one of them was a private contractor…who also claimed to have killed A Al Queda with his bare hands while racing through the streets of Benghazi on his unicycle…
I’ve heard that, in the first draft of 13 Hours that Tiegen and Geist sent to their publisher, they actually managed to save Ambassador Stevens by carrying him through the burning wreckage of the Benghazi compound and getting him into a Medevac chopper, at which point they pounded dramatically on his chest and screamed profanities at the Lord.
Their agent thought that passage was a bit outlandish, given that Stevens was, well, y’know, dead.
But Tiegen and Geist sneered in disagreement. “That’s what they want you to think,” Tiegen said quietly, with Geist solemnly nodding his agreement.
“If Hitlary knew Stevens was alive,” he whispered, “he wouldn’t last the week.”
Well, THAT’S scary as hell to read! Scarier still that it worked on a massive scale…
I don’t get why TPM uses “push debunked claim,” which is nonsense, how about “lied?”
