Discussion: Ben Carson: Same-Sex Marriage ‘Is Now The Law Of The Land’

Discussion for article #237942

“to me, and millions like me, marriage is a religious service not a government form”

Clearly…which is why you and those millions marched your holier-than-thou bigot asses down to the town/city/county clerk’s office, obtained and filled out a form, signed it, submitted it, obtained a marriage license, went and held your ceremony and then promptly began filing your federal and state taxes jointly and enjoying the tax break it afforded you? To say nothing of the health and life insurance changes, hospital visitation rights, inheritance rules and changes to your wills, perhaps a pre-nuptial agreement, etc. etc. etc.?

This shit doesn’t even pass the giggle test.

Sorta like, ‘people can’t sell your wife and kids anymore.’ is the law of the land?

At least there is some progress here. Dr Carson now understands there are actually 3 branches of government.

This is the second week in a row Ben Carson has publicly acknowledged objective reality.

He doesn’t stand a chance in the primaries.

Yeah, the Teabaggers’ perceptions are subtly changing.

Instead of calling him OUR ni(CLANG!) now they are saying THAT ni(CLANG!)

Were any teeth lost during the course of his statement?

Lots of people had, and still have, deeply held religious beliefs that interracial marriages are unbiblical and against the will of God. Are we protecting those, too?

How bad is it when Carson is the most moderate voice coming from the RWNJs ?

Which puts him one step ahead of Bobby Jindal, Mike Huckabee, et al.

Oh, they know it. Jindal apparently wants to sell it, and Huckabee wants to drown it in a baptismal pool.

“I call on Congress to make sure deeply held religious views are respected and protected," he said. "The government must never force Christians to violate their religious beliefs.”

No one is forced to violate their beliefs. If those beliefs are incompatible with their job duties, they are free to choose another line of work consistent with those beliefs.

Exactly. We have Jindal saying “get rid of the Court”, and the Huckster calling it “Imperial”. Haven’t they had their day with Citizens United? Cripes.

No wonder my watch stopped working. Three times in two weeks?

Yeah but Jindal says 3 branches cost too much, so we need to cut back to just the Executive and Legislative branches.

If they’re not winning 100% of the time then they’re losing.

Marriage is a civil right. Holy Matrimony is the religious rite. Pity Uncle Ben doesn’t understand the nuanced difference.

Right, rite - homophobes got problems w/homophones.

This is like saying “I HOPE THE DMV DOESN’T INFRINGE ON PEOPLE’S RELIGIOUS BELIEFS BY ISSUING OTHER PEOPLE DRIVERS LICENSES”. Just shut the f*ck up already.

How bad is it? Pretty damn bad, apparently.
