I think the choice of Carson is strange to say the least. Isn’t Trump a developer who builds things? You would think that HUD (since they build things) would be the one department where Trump would make an extremely qualified pick. Carson is the least qualified.

Both Armstrong Williams and the Doctor make Spiritual references in their comments. If God wanted either to be “The Man” they’d not be considering what Trump had to offer. They’d be The Man. So enough with the religious bullshit. Dr.Carson’s no closer to God than Charlie Manson and neither have a clue what God plans for them.
I repaired 2 cruciate ligaments today ( one a damn mess ) but there’s no reason to think I can handle stuff unrelated to that. I’d like to think I’m the as cool as cool can be because of what I can do with a scalpel and a laser but it’s not the case. I’d be clueless running HUD or the Dog Pound. Dr. Carson is an icon in the surgery biz but Trump’s not asking him to perform surgery. Dr. Carson, bless his heart, just isn’t much outside of an OR. Me too.

Professionally, this is my Cabinet department head. I understand that it is generally considered a second or third tier position, but it makes a difference in millions of people’s lives and it is responsible for billions of US taxpayer dollars. PBO’s appointments have been good choices - Shaun Donovan was the head of NYC’s housing development and community development department and Julian Castro was a big city mayor. There has to be some Republican big city mayors or County Executives (like GW’s Mel Martinez - a FLA Cuban per Steven Maturin) that could do the job (I doubt that they are any big city housing people that are Trumpites)… GHW Bush appointed Jack Kemp, an upstate NY representative from Buffalo who was a retire pro football player but did have legislative experience and wasn’t terrible.
David Chapelle is right, the President-Elect is an internet troll. The first name I read floated for HUD was the Westchester NY County Executive who was forced to sign a consent degree for essentially affirmatively preventing fair housing opportunity. Then we get Dr. Ben with no housing, administrative or governmental experience. I doubt Dr. Ben takes the job, it is far easier and likely more lucrative to grift from the private sector than from inside the government.
So the brain surgeon who knows shit about housing and urban development is going to HUD specifically to follow through on his pet peeve- the Fair Housing Act that bans discrimination in housing?! What a joke.
Trump probably figured “Oh, he’s black. He should go to the agency that deals with the inner city,” like no African-Americans live anywhere else. LOL
