Discussion: Ben Carson After Camp Tour: Absorb Syrian Refugees In Mideast

Carson had to waste taxpayers’ money on security to travel to the Middle East; only to come up with the “brilliant” solution that other Arab countries should take them in

If they did, there wouldn’t be a refugee crisis in the first place!

Apparently, he doesn’t understand the whole Sunni, Shi’a, Kurd, issues any better than I do. Maybe less.

Yeah … definitely less.

So, he essentially went to the other side of the planet to say the same thing that he’s been saying on this side of the planet.

Saudi Arabia already provides a LOT of help in terrorist situations. All the money they provide to terrorist organizations certainly helps the terrorist’s situations!

Well we will offer billions and billions, then of course we will welsh declaring a budget crisis…but we did our part.

Definitely less.

Yeah, really. The Palestinian refugee camp at the edge of Jordan’s capital city Amman has been “home” to hundreds of thousands for now going on four generations. I saw it in 2003 – squalor and misery. Must be even worse today. Obviously Benny’s handlers are not capable of providing him with a full picture.

Of course, when you are only after a cheap sound bite, then you don’t give a damn about truth and reality. Sheesh.

That was my first thought too. The hypocrisy of all of these “good Christians” is just mind blowing.

I’m as shocked as anyone that Dr. Ben has so quickly cut through all the B. S. surrounding the Syrian refugee crisis, and after a whole one or two day visit. It’s so simple I’m surprised we didn’t see it sooner. Just leave them here (in Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, etc.) and let (here comes the unstated part) their own kind take care of them. There’s no need for us to bring them to America - it’s better for them to stay here in the Middle East so they can return to beautiful Syria when all this fighting is done. Wow

Not unlike GWB who didn’t need an aircraft carrier and a Mission Accomplished banner. It’s all about the optics with that group

Carson’s Foreign Policy?

Tell the nations that are hurting because of our actions that they need to take in all of the refugees. Oh and we’ll help you financially?

Arrogant, ill-informed and willing to sweep our nation’s culpability in helping to create the crisis under the rug.

After the Azraq visit, Carson suggested that it would be best to absorb
Syrian refugees in Middle Eastern host countries, which have given
temporary shelter to most of the more than 4 million Syrians who have
fled civil war in their country since 2011.

I wonder of Dr Ben is aware that after the Arab-Istaeli war in 1948 refugee camps were established for displaced people as a result of that war and they are still in existence. So his idea of other mid east countries absorbing these people isn’t necessarily gonna solve the problem as easily as he thinks it might. Besides that “slight” problem there is the general instability in the entire region. Syria (where these folks are fleeing from), Iraq, Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, Southeastern Turkey and Northwest Iran are not the most stable or wealthiest places in the world. And if Dr Ben entertains the idea of sending people to Saudi Arabia there would be some religious difficulties encountered for sure. That leaves the Gulf States who are famous for funding Islamic crazy people.

I also wonder if he’s aware that the various divisions within Islam that have caused devastating turmoil in other places—Iraq comes to mind—are a factor in Syria and would seriously complicate his suggestion.

Really I think the main thing he is aware of is that video of him nodding sagely and looking all serious as he talks to some NGO official on-site with dusty refugee tents stretching away into the distance tends to confer Serious Personhood on you and makes you Totally Not a Joke. Images, man. These GOP trogs are basically at the pictograph stage and going backward fast.

Beatty, the drought you mention is the basic reason for the Syrian civil war. It all extends from that lack of rain. Well, and our foolishly upending the apple cart thru ignorance.

The camps I mention are now today containing the 4th and 5th generation from the original occupants. I doubt Carson is aware of that either. Had Dr Carson demonstrated a modicum of awareness I would not treat him thus but to my knowledge what we have here, as best as I can determine from my admittedly limited information, is a savant. Somebody skilled at one thing only and woefully inadequate in other areas. I would be way more comfortable about the long term survival of America if BOTH parties had at least one qualified candidate each. The dearth of anyone remotely qualified among the GOP for high office has me awake at night. I don’t see us surviving intact if any of the “current crop” of GOPers were to get elected.

Captain OBVIOUS!

Carson had to waste taxpayers’ money on security to travel to the Middle East; only to come up with the “brilliant” solution that other Arab countries should take them in. If they did, there wouldn’t be a refugee crisis in the first place!

From CNN:
‘In an interview with CNN’s Brianna Keilar that’s set to air in the noon
hour of Sunday’s “State of the Union,” Carson compared the stop in
Jordan to a trip he took to the U.S.-Mexico border to learn about
immigration’

One visit to the Mexican border and one trip to a Jordanian refugee camp makes Carson an expert?
I have lived within 50 miles of the Mexican border since 1968.I have crossed it many dozens of times. I bet I know more about the border than Ben Carson does. In the CNN article I quoted from Carson says that the majority of Syrian refugees would rather stay in Syria. How does he know that? Did he talk to the majority of them? I doubt it considering more than a million Syrians have gone to Jordan in the last 4 years and hundreds of thousands have fled to Western Europe in just the last year. Internally in Syria at east half of the.whole population of that country have been displaced by the continuing war.
It’s my estimation that Carson has a LOT to learn and is woefully under qualified to be POTUS.

I’m guessing that I–with my worldly tours of a few islands in the Bahamas (so danged long ago, I cannot even remember which ones!) and two weeks in Puerto Vallarta, and that’s all–would be much more prepared to serve as POTUS than our esteemed Dr. Carson. Not to say that I wouldn’t eff up a thing here and there … just fewer and far less than Mr. Grifting Hands.

If the Republicans had any ability to feel shame or embarrassment, they would be extremely shamed and embarrassed right now, instead, they defend Dr. Dumb Dumb and the rest of the Bozos.
Ignorance isn’t bliss, it’s just ignorance.

Ben Carson: Still Clueless, MD. Does he even get the concept of a refugee camp? That there is no future there, only desperation? Does anyone share my theory that he practiced brain surgery on himself when in college?
