I would vote for Biden. First, he is one of most decent people in DC, and secondly he is also one of the smartest guys in the country when it comes to foreign policy.

So what. I’m no more impressed with Biden than I am with Obama, dumdum dubya and dick the prick, all assholes and liars. Remember, Biden and Obama have allied with the Nazis to take over the Ukraine. And Biden had no problem installing this son as the Energy Czar of the Ukraine, under the Nazis. That is who these people are - vicious arrogant liars and cowards.
Apparently there are no limits to the hatred Ms. Dowd has for anything Clinton. Using the dead son of the Vice President for her crusade is as low and as shameful as one can imagine. I know that she is on the opinion page, but this type of opinion should be reserved for a left wing version of the Drudge report and not for the New York Times.

From my distant perspective (knowing very little about Joe other than the public persona) I think Biden is too decent a guy to get the nomination or to win the election

It’s Maureen Dowd via her Sunday column grinding an axe. You’re right, I think, it’s a little too late to go up against the Clinton campaign machine, and I’d hate to see Joe go out on a losing battle.

That’s the conundrum. He has a history of gaffes and a campaign would not be free of them though his heart would be in the right place. He’s also older than HRC and as much as we’re going to hear about her age being a liability, think what they’ll do with Joe when he’s 73 in 2016.

Correct, there are many people who would have made good presidents, they just were not good candidates. Bill Bradley comes to mind. One of the best and honest politician’s ever, he just did not have the flash needed. In Biden’s case, his weakness is that he can just say dumb off the cuff stuff, and you can’t survive that when there is always video of it. It just gets played over and over, and he looks too much like a loose cannon. Like ***“If you want to protect yourself, get a double-barrel shotgun. … I said [to my wife] ‘Jill, if there’s ever a problem, just walk out on the balcony here, walk out, put that double-barrel shotgun and fire two blasts outside the house. I promise you whoever’s coming in is not going to…’”***. Where did that come from? Some guy actually got busted for doing that, then demanded an apology from Biden. Funny. And technically, if a guy was right there looking to get to his wife, as soon as she shoots the two shots, the guy knows she has to reload. Wasn’t really good advice. Stuff like that does not make him a good candidate. Much like Christie, who has a problem with arrogance and saying dumb stuff. Went over OK in New Jersey, no way on the national stage, he has no chance of getting the nomination.

What? First of all, I am guessing you mean the Russians are the Nazi’s? Whatever. OK, well, guess what. Ukraine (not “the” Ukraine) had a chance to join NATO, and they voted not to join. Had they joined NATO, Putin does squat in the Crimea. Ukraine has no one to blame but themselves.

I find it distasteful that Dowd would use a dying man’s love and respect for his father as a prop in her 20-plus year campaign of anti-HRC blather. But it’s so automatic for her now that she seems to have lost perspective.

Yep. Liberals are smarter than conservatives, less tolerance for dumb stuff. That’s why FOX does so well, most conservatives watch TV News, they need to have the news brought to them (not smart). Liberals go on line and GET the news (smart).

No, actually he means that the government currently in power in Kiev is a bunch of Nazis, which is partly true – there is an ultranationalist faction that shares power, and some neo-Nazi mercenaries from Scandanavia have come down to fight for it. And he goes on to say that the U.S. manipulated politics in Ukraine to install this faction, which is also partly true – Google “Victoria Nuland Ukraine” or follow this link: http://www.thenation.com/article/not-so-secret-ukraine-phone-call/. The part about the Biden family profiting directly from these arrangements is new to me, but on the whole these are just conspiratorial, pro-Putin talking points.

It was a pretty incoherent post, and whenever people start with the Nazi stuff, it’s hard to take them seriously. No, the party in power in Kiev are not “Nazis”. Yes, they might have a few rooting for them, but we have a few Nazi’s rooting for Republicans here too, does not make the Republican’s “Nazi’s”. When anyone starts putting people in camps, letting them wallow in their own feces while also starving them, and then gases them, then the Nazi’s comparison applies. Otherwise it’s just silly nonsense.
That article is on the EU, which is really a joke, I agree with our ambassador. We just can’t say it publicly. Greece never should have joined. And all the Scandinavian countries who refused to join survived the crash of 2008 quite nicely, and still do fine. The Euro was a great idea for…Germany.
My reference was to NATO. Had Ukraine joined NATO, Putin would have stayed out. Most Ukraine’s don’t like Putin, it’s only a small percentage that do. Let them move to Russia if they like.
