Discussion: Barr Says He Applied What He Thought Was The 'Right Law' To Obstruction Analysis

Is he in Alaska to make it harder to arrest him today when the Flynn stuff doesn’t show up like it’s supposed to?
Also too: Hunting vests don’t do anything good for his figure.

IOW he doesn’t like the self label of “another tRUmp toady”… and is trying to backtrack, sorry, “you made that”, now live with it.

I really despise this fucker. Hold him in contempt. Levy fines and then impeach him. Let him be the first to go. Then do the same with Mnuchin. Flex those Congressional muscles, Dems. Don’t play coy by showing a little leg here and there. Just do it. These assholes are defying the rule of law. When the Attorney General of the United States has become tRump’s personal lawyer, picking and choosing which laws he’s willing to follow, or not, its time to call him on the carpet and read him the fucking riot act. This insanity has to stop. When tRump has the military performing acts of fealty, and the rule of law is at his beck and call, America…we got a problem.

“We analyzed the law and the facts and a group of us spent a lot of time doing that and determined both as a matter of law, many of the instances would not amount to obstruction, proved beyond a reasonable doubt the president and his cohorts were as transparently guilty as the day is long,” he told CBS in an interview broadcast Friday. “In other words, we didn’t agree with the legal analysis, a lot of the legal analysis in the report, it did not reflect the views of the department and it was the views of a particular lawyer or lawyers and so we applied what we thought was the right law huddled for days to cobble together enough lies to, hopefully, get us through the next week before we have to change our stories again.”

Barr Says He Applied What He Thought Was The ‘Right Law’ To Obstruction Analysis

The first step in absolving oneself of any responsibility. But when the AG of the U.S. does it it’s okay. ‘Move on’ say the Republicans. Democrats … ?.

“So we applied what we thought was the right – wing — law.”

Fixed that for ya, Bill.

Have we impeached the motherfucker (Barr) yet…(HT to @Tena)

The most important thing for everyone, especially federal prosecutors, to remember is that Barr had to lift the DOJ ban on indicting a sitting POTUS to make his determination. The POTUS is now free to be charged in any criminal matter.

Memo to Barr: Opinions are like assholes, everybody’s got one.

I agree there is no “legal” impediment to indicting a sitting president. But prosecutors in general and the Attorney General have discretion to determine which violations of the law to bring before the courts and the OLC opinion binds Assistant Attorneys General on the exercise of their discretion. So, legal or not, Mueller could not have indicted trump.

I just don’t follow the reasoning behind comments that are simply preaching the the TPM choir, without some sort of actual thinking, analysis, useful information, something to look up that applies. Something… Comments with no substance make it difficult to wade through and try to find anything to actually think about, especially when it gets up to 80 or 100 comments… Nobody is really reading the “I hate this &**%&er” stuff, anyway, not with any real thought, and if they are, they’ve got more time on their hands than a lot of us. Maybe it makes us feel better to curse Trump out and call for his impeachment over and over in these comments? But, really, what is the purpose of the comment section on TPM?

Except Barr doesn’t just have one, he is one.

Hang on, did he just say they spent a long time thinking about this? He rushed his letter out before reading the first 10 pages! No doubt they’ve spent almost 3 years working on these mental gymnastics.

I, for one, do not find it cathartic to curse Trump in these comments. It takes some work to think of something meaningful and helpful to say, but doing that is much more satisfying.
