Remember how darth and co. tried to keep the Downing St Memos from surfacing and they did but by then it was to late to do anything.
I think that with the popularity and interest of all things mueller, not allowing it to surface would do more political damage to trump and the GOP b/c people would sense a coverup and assume trump and the GOP are guilty. Not to mention that it give serious fuel to those attempting to beat trump in 2020…

The simple solution is for Mueller to indict everyone involved and let the courts sort them out. There won’t be any uncharged criminals for Barr to “protect”. This includes trump!
I suspect that if Mueller does not trust Barr to do the right thing, his “report” will be the indictments. Those long, wordy, “speaking” kind. After that, whatever is in his “report” will be moot. Barr can hide it under his mattress for all I care.
Barr and Mueller have known each other and worked together for years. Mueller will know if Barr cannot be trusted.

I could see Barr refusing to indict if it’s “only” obstruction of justice, on the grounds that the President runs the justice department. But if it’s conspiracy and/or treason with ironclad evidence, I don’t think even this guy would sit on that. It’s too explosive, and it would get leaked very quickly. The way I read his background, he’ll take a small career hit for the President, but he’s not going to take a bullet like covering up for treason.

“Comrade minus” aka Cheeto Mussolini aka Deranged Delusional Dotard aka THE WORLD-WIDE ASSHOLE aka ad nauseum ad infinitum could always try to keep Mueller from testifying on grounds of “executive privilege”. I’ll let constitutional lawyers argue about how well that has worked in the past. Sounds like Barr could be trying to temporarily appease Covfefe-man (a dysfunctional variant of Cro magnon man) given his past working relationship with Mueller, or might be hinting at the truth. I hope for the former.
The bottom line is that we will eventually know the truth. The question is will the latency be enough to protect the Pig for the remainder of this term, because there’s no way in Hell he gets reelected without an Independent running on the left. It would be pretty damn hard to find a serious Independent who could run to his right. After all, Pinochet, Franco and Hitler are all dead.

So, like the example I see coming is that Jr. is the person who “directed a Senior Trump Campaign official” to go see what other dirt wikileaks had, from the Stone indictment. So Jr. gets indicted.
But with this interpretation from Barr, if Jr. called daddy to ask permission before giving that direction, that call wouldn’t be released in any final report, as Trump would be an uncharged third party…
Which leads the whole Republican caucus to declare that there’s NO COLLUSION, it’s all a nothingberder, and the country needs to heal and move on and all that bullshit.

Even better, Jerry Nadler D-NY Chair Judiciary Committee has said he would invite Mueller to speak in open session in front of his committee if something like this were to happen.

I took that statement to mean “audience of one, named Individual One.” So Barr is taking up his predcessors’ role, telling the Wallless Wonder what he wants to hear, because every day he doesn’t do something stupid is another victory.

Any given House committee could form a select committee as a work around if the R members don’t care to show up.

The issues within the Mueller report are straining the fabric of our country. Every. Single. Day.
Normal operating practices are not relevant here.
Anything that is less than full disclosure to parts or all of congress will simply be untenable.
One way or another the full report is going to Congress.

With a few caveats, I don’t have a problem with this. I think the report needs to show what the Trump campaign did, so any actions relating to Russian interference or follow on crimes should be outlined. But if it’s not criminal, people on the periphery should’t be identified. I don’t have a problem if Randy Credico wasn’t named specifically in the final report, but instead was named as Individual 23, that wouldn’t give me heartburn. If an Alex Van Der Zwaan was not named, that wouldn’t bother me.
But what was done by Trump and the inner circle should be named regardless of indictment.
