Innocent people typically want all that exculpatory information to get out there, soonest, so they can clear their name and move on.
Why does Barr hate Trump so much that he wants to drag this process out?
The fix is most definitely in.
“Well, the letter speaks for itself,” Piglet said.
“I thought it did too,” Pooh added.
That picture looks like Barr is trying not barf. Lying is a bitter pill to swallow.
How does he see this play out? If he gives the report with a bunch of redaction’s does he expect people to not key into those redaction’s and constantly be asking why he is covering them up? He has zero credibility, hence why the only thing he could do that doesn’t scream coverup is to ask the judge to allow the grand jury material to be given to congress.
“I don’t intend at this stage to send the full unredacted report to the committee.”
So let’s get those subpoenas sent out right away then.
Barr seems to me to think he is more important than trump himself.
a self loathing arrogance that sets him far above anyone who dare ask him a question.
with what he really knows he can safely think he owns trump and trump will not piss him off for obvious reasons.
In trumps mind, barr is the greatest AG ever and Barr says, you’re’ goddamn right for once.
Keep digging through this cesspool until you find the plug to pull and really drain this swamp.
It’s no mystery, hating Trump places him in the company of 2-3 billion other people.
Another BAD ACTOR.
Questionable about whether that would hold up before a judge, given the imminent release of the redacted version. A judge might just toss it, given that the person is still in compliance.
Now, once he releases the redacted version, about 5 minutes later a subpoena better be headed over…
“I suspect that they probably wanted more put out,” Barr replied. “But in my view I was not interested in putting out summaries or trying to summarize because I think any summary regardless of who prepares it not only runs the risk of, you know, being under-inclusive or over-inclusive but also would trigger a lot of discussion and analysis that really should await everything coming out at once.”
And you are systemically preventing that from happening, aren’t you!
Loyalty to the Bush’s and his friend Mueller?
His letter about the Special Counsel not being appropriate got him the job and Trump may have a false sense of security because of it.
Barr may be playing Trump defender on TV only to sink him in a way that protects the rest of the Party.
Now that is REALLY shocking!
Barr does not have the right to hold the unredacted report from Congress; there are members who are cleared for any intelligence or other information held within the report. There’s just no excuse for him to stonewall on it…subpoenas and a court fight are going to result, and the only reason for it is to try to delay the release of the report. That makes it clear there are things that will damage Trump and the Republicans in the report, otherwise it would not be an issue to release it once only the classified information was redacted (and the summaries would not be touched).
That’s a key thing…if the summaries throughout the report are party redacted in any way then we will know for sure there is a coverup in motion. Mueller’s team specifically wrote those for the public, they will not contain anything that can’t be released publicly, and there will be no excuse to hide anything in them. We also really need to hear from Mueller if the report is edited in any way…that’s another reason why keeping the full report from Congress is bad, they would be able to point to anything that is changed.
And, Barr’s smug representation of his letter as clearing everything up will hopefully piss off Mueller’s team…they have made it clear that there are really worrisome things in there, and for Barr to sit there and act like Trump was completely exonerated will stick in someone’s craw. That may be how we finally get the full report.
Sorry. I doubt that was your intention.
Which, as Barr very well knows, is a boilerplate stamp and in no way means that every page actually contains Grand Jury materials.
Except Barr has absolutely no intention of “everything coming out.”
Serious question here. What is the possibility the entire report is leaked at some point? Harkening back to Pentagon Papers days, which I recall as a toddler (yes, a joke … sorry), it seems there is a precedent.
Perhaps wishful thinking, but I keep half-expecting at some point the LA Times, Washington Post and NY Times (plus the Dallas Morning News, just for good measure) might simultaneously publish the entire report on the grounds they are simply fulfilling their duty to inform the public.
