Did Barney point out that thereâs a big difference between a gay man and men who sexually molest children who are boys? Probably many many men sexually molest boys, and consider themselves âstraightâ. No, they are criminal pederasts.
Iâm sure most of the readers here know the difference.

I really wish more people would make that point because it still doesnât get made enough.
One of my favorite TV shows had an episode in which the Detective in the show was investigating the murder of a young constable from several years prior. The victim had a glass photo plate on him when he died. The photo showed two men in a compromising but not sexual position. One of the men was the Chief Constable and when the Detective basically accused him of being a pedophile, the Chief Constable threw it back in the Detectiveâs face demanding to know if the Detective, who is straight, slept with little girls and then pointed out that his only lovers had been men.
Unfortunately, the point doesnât get challenged enough.

Barneyâs getting old; forgotten how to respond to this type of question? Must have also forgotten thereâs a difference between duggary and being gay. Very disappointed in my former congressmanâŚor (hopefully) the way his comments are being reported.

Hastert is a straight man who liked to bugger children. Hastert - a troop leader - is a poster boy for why the Boy Scoutsâ ¨no gays in scouting¨ was so ill-conceived and misguided.

Either that or Barneyâs gaydar has been malfunctioning for decades.
I donât like to draw too fine of a line when minors are involved, but there tends to be a difference between people who are interested in prepubescent versus postpubescent minors, in the sense that a lot of research exists to show that it is very difficult to get men who are interested in sexually immature children to ever become interested in adults â whereas, if you are interested in post-pubescent minors, there is a chance that you can be satisfied with other sexually mature people â that is, adults. Thatâs why pedophiles are so difficult to deal with from a mental health and criminal justice perspective.

I understand the difference between homosexuality and pedophiliaâŚhowever, I recall hearing rumors that Hastert was gay back during his time as speaker. Iâm just a random political observer who couldnât be farther from D.C., but I do recall rumors being spread. Might be like the Lindsay Graham stuff now where it could equally just be insult and slander, from a substance basis, but there was talk.

Yea, Iâm with everybody. Iâm outraged Barney would compare a child predator with a gay anything. Cable media has reached new heights, depths layering their for hire political naivete with a cheap, 'Queer Eyeâed oversimplification of gay men as they, for some reason, toss us all under the bus in a curious effort to obscure what this then hidden two-faced cabal of perverts did to the country.
(PS-Same for the transitioning âcelebrityâ entity that seems to be transitioning more from one high profit media creation to another while dredging up the ugliest of old stereotypes BTW)

Right. Calling Hastert a pedophile (if he did do what they say he did) is incorrect.

Thatâs because Hastert wasnât gay. Heâs a child molester. Two different things. Child molesters wrap themselves in self-righteous family values rhetoric. They publicly judge gays who want to marry and condemn women who want to control their own bodies and destiny.
Hastert and the socially conservative Republican Party were so much more superior than the rest of usâŚuntil it turned out that they werenât. Yet they continue to cast stones at others, deny rights to all citizens and insist that incest and rape are consensual sex.
Making excuses for those that attack and abuse children was never, ever on St. Reganâs radar. Ike would have shot anybody who suggested it. Nixon would have found a way to dispose of the evidence. Itâs time for the GOP to kick out the Dixiecrats, Aryan Nation and social conservatives or cease to exist.
Yes, they became pretty widespread in the wake of the Foley fiasco, but it certainly wasnât the first time they were raised. I remember people raising eyebrows at the rather tight arrangement he had with his chief of staff, for instance.
Its possible that Franks just didnât give those rumors much worth, but I have a hard time believing he never heard them.

Barneyâs book came out a few months ago, and it sounds like heâs on a promotional tour and on autopilot until they get to the questions about the book.

I really donât care about Hastertâs sexuality. I care a great deal that Hastert was one of the Republicans who made our government unable to function. Hastert made it unacceptable for Democrats and Republicans to socialize together, the fertile ground in which a compromise can be nurtured. The âHastert Ruleâ has us circling the drain because even if a majority in congress wants to act, unless a majority of the majority allows it, the government is unable to address a problem. So Iâd love to see Hastert spend the rest of his life in prison for pedophilia, because somehow we canât prosecute him for his bigger crimes.
