It’s great, and I’m glad, but I was just thinking however great all the support has been, the small, innocent moment of praise for being a clever kid, untainted by racism and willful hateful stupidity, that he should have received was never given and can’t be recalled.

And, of course, we can be sure that before the day has closed, Wing Commander Malkin will be activating the elite Countertop Inspection Commando Company of the 101’st “Fightin’ Keyboarders” Chairborne Division to give every aspect of the life of this kid, his dad, and, above all, every miscreant in the nation or the world who shares a name with them, a thorough examination. Felt a real twinge of pity when I read that but I know, or at least hope, we’re a bit vindicated as a society in his eyes at this point. Most of us are pretty OK. And many have been misled and lied to. Some are just jerks by nature, but the sooner you learn that one the better, I guess.
