“Steve Bannon’s attorney relayed questions, in real time, to the White House during a House Intelligence Committee interview of the former Trump chief strategist…”

What’s truly amazing is that you couldn’t even see McGahn’s lips move.

Even when he drank that entire glass of water during the climax of the performance.

It’s unclear who Burck was communicating with in the White House or whether it was top White House lawyer Don McGahn, who Burck is also representing in special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation

Bill Burck is representing not only Bannon and McGahn, he’s also representing Priebus. At some point a judge is going to look askance at that.

Good thing Nunes runs a tight ship. Here he is, in a closed-door House investigation, probing into the integrity of our nation’s highest office, and he lets a lawyer on a cell phone to the White House dictate in real time the witness’s answers. Yes, sir, one hell of an investigation you’re running there Devon.

This certainly sounds shady as hell. Whether it is or not, i don’t know. I no longer trust my instincts with this crew. Are they brilliant in a way I cannot conceive or just shockingly transparent in their complete sleaziness?

Can someone tell me if this sort of phone call during a private Congressional interview is common-place?

Does everybody get the “call a friend” option?

No, it is not.

But Bannon refused to answer questions about that crucial period, and as a result, the chairman, Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., issued the subpoena, spokesman Jack Langer said.

Yes, the subpoena was issued on the spot — and then what happened? The article does not say.

Very good, Mr. Bannon - Grand Jury it is!

I am very skeptical of what is going on. First, Bannon is very shrewd and conniving. Second, he has the same lawyer as Don McGahn, the White House Counsel, which provides a conduit for passing information to Donald and Iwank Trump. Finally, he and his lawyer constantly consulted with Donald and Iwank Trump yesterday and he hewed closely to the gag order that they imposed. I am thinking that the events of yesterday are the clearest evidence yet for Donald and Iwank Trump trying to obstruct justice.

So it’s a closed door hearing, but the lawyer can call whoever he wants. Maybe some committee member should call a reporter during the next closed door event.

What the actual fuck is up with that? What are they, rule-of-law deaf or something? It’s just beyond their ken that there are established ways this stuff is done?

Even Trey “Benghazi!” Gowdy’s publicly expressing shock at the WH’s overreach, calling it “the most tortured analysis of executive privilege I have ever heard of.”

My thoughts too. No press, but phone calls out to get your story straight are A-OK? Seems to me Dems should be screaming for open sessions on all interviews or shut these House probes down as the farces they are.

Don’t be silly. She’d be all over that. Easy money, you know.
