Discussion: Bannon Says Trump Tower Meeting Was 'Treasonous' And 'Unpatriotic'

Bannon is hitting the bottle again…

Bannon is obviously a Hillary plant and part of the deep state

I am in complete agreement with you. My point was that instead of focusing on what Mueller will eventually sort out, THIS (Bannon taking shots at the administration) becomes a part of the news cycle. And in the background (read smoke and mirrors), Rump and Co. are eroding American values, policies that truly help the middle class and lining his coffers with tax payer money.

Yes, it is treasonous, unpatriotic, etc. But while the media is playing sound bites and querying responses (from twitler & admin) to gin up thier ratings, American Democracy is getting kicked in the seeds.

of course Bannon is protecting himself… and yes it will/would be a glorious thing to witness a Bannon-Trump WH nuclear conflagration. Go long on popcorn and schadenfreude.

so this is a generic response as it could be in reply to a number of messages today but does anyone sense that there is increasing instability in the treason weasel ecosystem, much like a top going wobbling in it last moments before finally tumbling to an end?

The craziness seems to be accelerating and the system seems like it’s going to start hurling insane furballs (maybe a turbine throwing blades?) in the very near future, including more indictments, more op-eds, more tweeting, etc., which will lead to increasingly more insanity and instability.

Can’t see this system continuing at this pace until the elections. Something’s going to come undone or fly apart before then.

I’ve long doubted that Trump will ever resign, but if this investigation leads to the resignations of Don the Lesser and Kushner, suddenly I see it much more likely that Trump throws in the towel as well.

Has Mueller and company interviewed this grubby grimy racist piece of shit yet? Did he get him to flip too? Maybe wiretapping wasn’t necessary in the WH when Bannon sat in on cabinet meetings. Is that possible? Those ongoing phone calls with the Toddler Tyrannt sure are paying off…

I read Mueller was getting closer and more focused on investigating Cambridge Analytica and the Mercer and Bannon connection. I’d say Mueller has a lot of leverage there, if liberally applied.

Interesting quote from the Guardian link:

Bannon went on, Wolff writes, to say that if any such meeting had to take place, it should have been set up “in a Holiday Inn in Manchester, New Hampshire, with your lawyers who meet with these people”. Any information, he said, could then be “dump[ed] … down to Breitbart or something like that, or maybe some other more legitimate publication”.

So after saying the trump tower meeting was treason, Bannon speculates on how he would have done treason. What a pos.

Most likely scenario is war.
Trump has an instinctive ability to escalate and confuse matters, in order to draw attention away from his misdeeds.
He’s been saying in private he wants a war. He is tweeting threats of war. I don’t think it’s a joke. He does not understand the costs of war.

With the right deal, Bannon gets immunity and if he’s relieved of significant consequences for his involvement in this conspiracy of fools… he will sing a very pretty song for the government.

Sigh. I’m kind of a self-appointed scold about this but I think it’s not entirely true to say “the media,” as if they were some monolithic thing, are ignoring this or that, or normalizing it or focusing on it too much or whatever. I can easily show you individual news and commentary outlets, as well as broad swathes of them, that focus on and highlight everything you think should be mentioned. News is new, though. If Bannon says the Trump campaign did a treasonous thing, JFC that’s news and it will be in the news, sorry. And just because the most immediately newsy news outlets talk about news doesn’t mean nobody else is talking about the slower, more incremental processes. The truth is far from that as I think you know yourself.

It’s t-Rump AND a significant number of R congress critters. The only reason so many are trying to cover for 44.5 has to be that their own asses are on the line. As long as they play the Putin card, they feel safe from exposure of their own misdeeds. (hacked RNC, etc.) I can’t think of any reason so many are so blatantly pro t-rump. It may be party, but…seriously?!

Well…whatever. I like to watch a good ratfucking in the morning by any of these clowns. It almost makes my day. I should quit while I’m ahead. I’m pretty sure the rest of the news today won’t make me near as happy. If it rankles that Orange Fuck than its a sure thing its good for America.

Still…I’d like to see Bannon’s slovenly fat ass taken to the woodshed for good measure. Immunity is too good for him. As always, there are no good nazis. Period.

no, I don’t see that. He’s saying that even if you were determined to do this meeting in spite of it being unpatriotic and treasonous and a bad idea, they did it in the stupidest way possible (and often that is the REAL sin…). Worse than a rookie move, I think even a 21 year old volunteer would know that senior campaign officials shouldn’t be attending a meeting with what could well be Russian agents… without attorneys… in their own building.

That wasn’t a sotto voce endorsement of doing the meeting; it was his expression of frustration and anger at how fucking stupid Trump’s “brain trust” was, as well as how much he wants them to go down. Bannon intensely hates Kushner and Donald the Lesser. Remember, even Bannon recognized that firing Comey was a stupid idea. Bannon is malicious and evil but not fucking stupid. I’m sure he is frustrated as hell that the horse he backed and that he hoped would allow him to work his evil at the national level turned out to be so incompetent and self-sabotaging.

Striking that Bannon is, time and again, the one Trumpite who’ll go on record, in the Noonday light, knifing not just rivals but failsons. Nazi badger don’t care.

Not at all. I perhaps could have worded it better. We all know that meeting was bad, Mueller will work that thoroughly.

I believe that Bannon would like the media to chase the “Bannon is ripping the Rump admin” narrative for a while, and in that while exec orders are being signed appointments to judgeship’s are being made, etc.

Who cares that Bannon (of all people) validates what we already knew, I think the noise he made in this interview was designed to have us looking the other way, and perhaps not for giving him props for stating the obvious.

What are the odds Junior had “protection” and didn’t know it?

None of this will matter if Trump presses the big button on his desk.
