Discussion: Bannon Got Pummeled In Axios Interview For Lack Of Relevance, Name Dropping

“Salvini said he’s spoken to you twice in his life, he barely knows you.”

Trump will say that about Bannon soon.

Life is tough, he not only got booted by Trump, but dropped by the Mercers as well. There is not all that much h can do on his own dime, specially with them tightwads Europeans.

Is it possible for Bannon to start looking even worse than before?

As I read/audiobook the latest Wolff book, it’s jarring to hear him quote Bannon. Bannon has no relevance to the administration other than perhaps a clearinghouse for gossip. Bannon is not that relevant. He’s a grifter.

That homeless guy with bad breath? If you call giving him a few euros and suggesting he get a haircut “talking to him” then you could say I “talked to him.”

He should join John McAfee on his yacht in the middle of nowhere. They can rant and rave from there about how tremendously important they are.

I still say we dodged a bullet getting Bannon and Trump and their ilk as the demagogues we were due.

The guy is an alcoholic haircut spewing the stuff his dumb old dad shat out between bitter burps and spitted bigotries. Without the heavy funding of Mercer et al and whatever rich buddies put him into Seinfeld he has nothing, is nothing, and should be persona non grata to all thinking peoples and publications.

He obviously wears all his wardrobe at once in case he has to get out of town quick.

Worse? I was actually thinking his skin looks clearer (less alcoholically) than it used to.

Swan asked who he should talk to, suggesting Matteo Salvini, the deputy prime minister of Italy.
Bannon said he thinks Salvini would call them “solid guys” giving “good advice.”
“So we spoke to Salvini,” Swan said, delivering the death knell. “Salvini said he’s spoken to you twice in his life, he barely knows you.”

Walked. Right. Into it.

Shakespeare:
I know thee not, old man: fall to thy prayers;
How ill white hairs become a fool and jester!
I have long dream’d of such a kind of man,
So surfeit-swell’d, so old and so profane;
But, being awaked, I do despise my dream. Henry IV, pt. 2.

Not that Trump is waking up to become a new man.

  1. How did this Aussie get so good at getting inside the White House and the “White House in exile”? We owe Swan a lot.

  2. Bannon is Wolff’s source for both books, especially Siege. He does come up with some great lines, and for all his BS, I think he understands Trump as well as anyone and gets his psychology, even from a distance.

  3. According to Wolff, Bannon’s comment on Mueller was “Never send a Marine to do a hit man’s job.” Seems on target to me.

  4. Bannon is clever and tactical. A deep thinker, not so much. He is trying to combine his “populism” with some European anti-modern thinkers who wanted to return to France before the Revolution. Seems an odd combination. Maybe that’s why he never made it in Hollywood.

Must be the Italian monastery-turned-populist bootcamp lifestyle. Get a Hitler haircut and clear complexion.

Bannon protested his relevancy.

The only relevancy Bannon’s ever had was gaining the ear of a populist extremist who mistakenly was elevated to the Presidency. Take that away and you take the relevancy with it.

Maybe he’s hoping to achieve relevance again with his hair. His choices, or apathy in that regard, certainly have me questioning WTF is he thinking???

I think Bannon gets more credit than he is due. The press will do anything to not paint the GOP-base as a bunch of racist morons.The mainstream press built him up like some Svengali-like character, when in reality he was just another asshole like Trump swept up in the tide of economic anxiety. I can point to any number of talk radio hosts who’ve been peddling this Trump BS for at least a decade now.
