Discussion for article #240216
Donald Trump would have negotiated a better settlement.
He and Christie would have made sure the city paid next to nothing…
It is great that they negotiated to have police wear body cameras. Might prevent other such tragedies and actually is a good legacy for Freddie Gray.
First Foxtard Teatroll to claim that “this kind of money award merely incentivizes these people to raise their children poorly” gets a cookie.
And, the first Foxtard Teatroll to claim something to the effect of “well, you have to admit, it worked out well for his family so what’s the big problem anyway” gets two cookies.
If you are going to correct the text from 4.6 to 6.4 million, you might want to fix the title too.
Would it not be cheaper just to train the police not to kill suspects?
We want deal!
A million here, a million there…
The Baltimore Police theme song.
Many people the police kill or injure are involved in crimes. They come from poor, disadvantaged backgrounds. Quite literally in large measure they were doomed out of the womb. Maybe society should concentrate on dissuading young, poor, uneducated women from having children. The fathers are similarly young, poor and uneducated. They’re absent before birth even occurs, never to return or contribute anything to bringing up the child. What business does a 16 year old girl, a high school dropout with addictions, scant family support and an absent father, have bearing a child? It’ll never happen but means testing procreation would accomplish a lot of good. Republicans certainly aren’t going to stand for family planning education as an alternative.
Accent on the “mean”.
Our wealthy overlords, who are waaay ahead of you in reducing human beings to economic quanta, have done a lot of analysis of the concept. It works great at first, with massive amounts of labor freed up as caretakers enter the job market and excess teachers look for jobs in the private sector. All the simulations show a reversal after about 20 years, however, and labor rates begin to climb more and more rapidly.
Well if more than a third of them would actually vote for candidates that aren’t troglodytes, they wouldn’t have this problem. They are on the hook for the money and rightfully so.
WHERE do cities and towns where these atrocities occur, come up with the monies to pay out?
I’d be curious to see a study of how much the labor pool suffers when deprived of a few million 16-25 year old professional criminals that do little to nothing as to participating in the legal workforce.
The only semi-relevant study was of pulling trolls off the internet and putting them to work. Turned out the the economy did better overall if we kept the antisocial behavior out of the real world.
