Wait…using his computer to lure the 15 year old to a rape date got him a felony and a place on the sex offender list, but the rape itself was a misdemeanor? Who made these laws? For sure it wasn’t either a woman or a man with a stupid 15 year old daughter wanting to be popular.

Privilaged little 1%er larva!

Exactly, privileged so rules don’t apply…

Gosh, he said he was sorry…

Would it be too much to ask that the details of the story be included? On my local Charlottesville news it was revealed that this guy was on a train with a young female journalist who recognized him. They had a conversation in which he told her he was not following his bail requirements, but he said later (once busted) that he thought the conversation was “off the record.”

Evidently it wasn’t, because the journalist either tweeted or put on her FaceBook, (I forgot which) an account of their meeting. It got back to the authorities, and BOOM!

This information is obviously out there. I wish details were a part of these “accounts.”

This has already been discussed to death on here, but the key fact is this one: “Labrie was 18 at the time of the encounter…”

In most states, the statutory rape laws carve out certain exceptions when the parties are close in age. Think about it: 15-year-old has sex with 15-year-old. No crime. The next day, one of them turns 16, and they have sex again. Bingo - felony! That would be wildly irrational.

This wasn’t forcible rape. The young woman went along with it, albeit with a lot of doubts. Not a simple situation.

Nonetheless, this guy seems like a little shit. And I’m consistently amazed at people who are on the very precipice, facing serious jail time, who can’t seem to abide by very clear, unambiguous terms for release on bail or probation. Dopes.

We have diagnosed the problem and it’s quite a typical disease among those who’ve suffered bouts of ‘Affluenza’ for most of their gag-worthy lives:

Except for the initial “no, no, no” parts before she, as they say, laid back and went with it. I’m a big fan of affirmative consent, it makes things so much clearer.

Yeah, but we’re talking about a pair of dopey teenagers, here. Applying adult standards to their behavior is problematic, to say the least.

Did he end up getting into Harvard or Princeton or did this torpedo his plans? I sure hope admissions people use the Google.
