Old Arizona saying: When you start to lose, file an injunction.
Frum nailed it in January:
If conservatives become convinced that they cannot win democratically, they will not abandon conservatism. They will reject democracy.
I did some rough math last night and calculated that Sinema has to get 51% of the uncounted mail-in and provisional ballots. Here is an article from yesterday that breaks the numbers down by county:
Weâve seen this movie before, Florida 2000 and we know how the GOP will try any trick in the book to get the ending they want, so nation watch closely.
âYou want to count all of the votes?â a spokesman for the Arizona GOP asked. âWe donât like to operate that way.â
Over and over and over again the ONLY consistent pattern of voter fraud is that perpetrated by the GOP.
Weâre on to ya- 1/20/19!
'Câmon voters! We only care about you when weâre RUNNING! â
I trust you on the math, but caution that the number of ballots that will end up being counted with votes in the Senate race couldâ be well below 600k even without any successful GOP legal action.
About 75 percent of Arizona voters cast ballots by mail, but those
ballots have to go through the laborious signature confirmation process,
and only then can be opened and tabulated. If county recorders have
issues verifying signatures they are allowed to ask voters to verify
their identity.

This is exactly why I go to my polling place here in Tucson in person on election day and cast that ballot into the box myownself. I like the idea of a mail in voting system but I figured our GOP would pull a stunt like this if they could and I donât want my vote to be fucked with. Itâs way too important.
Iâm stunned that many votes are outstanding.
I am surprised that signatures are not checked on mail in ballots before election day. Our mail in ballots are in 2 envelopes. The ballots themselves are the same as the personally cast ones so it should not be monumentally difficult to count them.
âAZ GOP Sues To Limit Mail-in Ballots Countedâ
Of COURSE they do.
Itâs funny, thereâs always so many stories about Republicans doing anti democratic stuff but yet they are the âlaw and orderâ party and the biggest flag-wavers.
Gimme a break.
It would obviously be totally crazy and undemocratic to discount 600,000 votes simply because (through no fault of the voters) the AZ system (operated and designed by the GOP) is slow. But one cannot rule out the judicial branch of the GOP ruling in such a way, most likely by imposing a cut-off deadline that cannot be met (by AZ officials whose numbers have been intentionally reduced to tiny numbers by the GOP, in case of precisely this scenario, ie, huge turnout in Phoenix metro area).
In the title of the article: âDems Cry Voter Suppressionâ
Really, is this what counts for unbiased journalism now? Democrats âcryâ? Here are some more appropriate and unbiased terms to use: âclaimâ, âallegeâ, âchargeâ
Who came up with this headline? Looking at the web, the âcryâ part does not appear in the title of the other published versions of the AP article that I found. @TPM, did you think that was a good idea?
I often drop my early ballot off at the polling place- this year I did mail it in but double checked to be sure it had been received before election day. I hope that the uncounted ballots tip the election for Sinema but I"m not super optimistic⌠it is Arizona after allâŚ
Itâs not even that Dems are alleging voter suppression. Itâs that voter suppression is taking place. The facts here speak for themselves. They donât require a partisan filter.
The fact that such an effort is being made to stop the count would suggest that a victory for Sinema is a very live possibility.
Sinema has a decent chance to take the lead when the ballots are counted. This suit is sort of a dead giveaway that the GOP thinks so too. Stay tuned. Weâre not going to know who won the AZ-SEN, FL-SEN and several house races for weeks.
Republicans are so hard working and creative when it comes to voter suppression. It occurred to me recently that while their efforts have centered on tactics to prevent people of color and youth from voting. I predict that soon they will come up with clever ways to prevent women from voting as well.
Democrats alleged it was attempted voter suppression and that recorders have followed the same procedures for years with no issues. Republicans said it was about following the law and having a timely ballot count.
Hey Republicans if you wanted a timely ballot count then why did you design the system you have?
