Discussion: Axelrod Calls Gruber 'Stupid' Over Obamacare Comments

Discussion for article #230215

I want to know why Republicans are furious over Gruber…haven’t they been saying the same bleep thing about Obamacare since it passed?

“Perhaps it doesn’t understand English,” thought Alice.

If you mean me…I comprehend English just fine and after hearing Gruber’s comments all I could think was “The GOP really are idiots given he said what they’ve been, basically, saying”

their “smoking gun” turns out to be a fart

The thought was about Buzzfeed, not you.

Department of understatement.

More than proving the you can be a professor at MIT and be incredibly stupid, too, Gruber is the embodiment of intellectual arrogance.

I think the “it” in this case meant the Republicans.

The people who told us the ACA would reduce our healthcare costs are the same people that are telling us they can control the earth’s temperature right down to the degree. And the same stupid people believe them.

Who said the ACA would reduce costs? Not the administration - they said it would slow the rate of healthcare cost increases, which is true.

Who said we can control the earth’s temperature right down to the degree? I want the original source for that quote. Fox or CNN style “some people say” doesn’t count.

… MIT professor Jonathan Gruber, who helped craft the health care law.

In what way did Gruber help craft the law? My understanding is that Gruber (or his RAs) ran some numbers at the request of some policy makers. The CBO ran numbers, too. Are CBO staff considered to have helped craft the law?
