Trump knows how to collapse aviation.
It was called Trump Airlines.

Hell-o, hell-o is anyone out there paying attention? It’s sounding a little more serious than trash in the parks (which we’ve heard nothing about for weeks). Are you waiting for a major catastrophe before you possibly do something?

Aviation systems could collapse?

Well then, your choices are wall, or safe aviation in America.

You choose.

ā€œWe’re going to win. We’re going to win so much. We’re going to win at trade, we’re going to win at the border. We’re going to win so much, you’re going to be so sick and tired of winning, you’re going to come to me and go ā€˜Please, please, we can’t win anymore.’ You’ve heard this one. You’ll say ā€˜Please, Mr. President, we beg you sir, we don’t want to win anymore. It’s too much. It’s not fair to everybody else. And I’m going to say ā€˜I’m sorry, but we’re going to keep winning, winning, winning," --Orange Ball of Gas, c. 2016

Don’t pay employees in a critical service when a lot of them don’t make that much to begin with and create a national emergency. Who would have guessed that would have happened?

Jesus not only is it fucking over federal employees, the businesses they use, next it going to fuck over all the businesses that depend on air traffic which is pretty much all of them these days!

Hummm, might make Bush’s, Reagan’s and Hoover’s, down turns look like nothing.

It turns out that federal workers keep a lot of critical systems running, to the benefit of all of us. Most people don’t know that…but a lot of people are talking about it!

Well if he keeps this up for another month, spring break is starting to roll in. Will not want to be at an airport when that begins.

I’d like to see all aviation system employees strike on one day and shut the entire system down. If not the entire systems, let’s just shutdown DC’s three airports on Thursday and Friday. The politicians will quickly find the will to open the government so they can get home.

We should have a general strike on Jan. 29, not the SOTU farce.

Yup. Close a few major airports, or at least cancel 50% of the flights.

I just hope like hell that we don’t have to wait for the first downed plane before this is taken seriously. But knowing that collection of buttheads in the WH inner circle today, they’re willing to wait for just that.

I fly round trip from Minneapolis to Chicago every week. I haven’t seen a huge breakdown in the process yet - heck, the storm through Chicago on Tuesday and Wednesday caused a whole lot more disruption.

However, I am considering breaking away from the air travel for a bit. It’s six hours from my home in Wisconsin to my project site, but the drive (nearly all interstate) is tedious and dangerous when the weather deteriorates.

I’m just not there yet.

I could also see my client saying the hell with it and telling me to work remote until this all settles.

Therein is the major problem.
The elites have yet to suffer any real world consequences.

The air traffic controllers, the TSA personnel and the Pilots should just strike. That would ground air travel. The shutdown would end in a few days.

Poor Donny, these aren’t the underclasses being impacted, but the businesses and Americans that can already afford to fly.

I can almost guarantee the union contract has a no-strike clause that would punitively punish anyone who did… like disqualify them for the ā€œback-payā€ Willbur Asswipe Ross said will sustain them through not being paid for months on end, or immediately terminate their health benefits and disqualify them from buying COBRA. Trump would rather have groveling bootlickers on their knees than professional productive employees.

I imagine Trump would also just pull the same maneuver Reagan did and fire them all, then force the military air traffic controllers to try and fill the gap as a national security measure… it was the death-knell for unions in the US and the first major shot that’s continued all the way through Scott Walker and now the SCOTUS.

At this rate, we are going to have a fatal incident, at which point the entire mess gets even nastier as politicians try to lay dead Americans at other’s feet. I hope that they just shut everything down and declare the system unsafe first, no air travel will force Trump to capitulate…though even in the face of that I can see him declaring air travel limited to military (and his family of course).
