Could be a formidable GOP contender, if that record is accurate.
The Avenatti arrest was total lies and politics attacking an enemy of Trump. Of course Avenatti has made plenty of political enemies already. This article describes the liar and corrupt prosecutor and how they set this up:
https://thehill.com/homenews/news/416793-avenatti-arrested-over-alleged-domestic-violence-reports.
At this point of the games, Avenatti is as a legitimate presidential candidate as anyone, considering the state of the nation and government - out of control totally.
For those who’ve followed the story, Jacob Wohl has been implicated in this set-up, the same guy who filed the bankruptcy lawsuit against Avenatti that was thrown out. A story about this Wohl was also published yesterday in this regard.
Go away, middling lawyer person. There remain adults in the room.
If he hadn’t been charged with anything related to the allegation, what was he charged with that required $50,000 bail?
Nope. We don’t need that kind of grandstander–we’ve already got one.
Let him go back to driving Twiltler crazy. He does that very well.
I really wish there was more information about this. He was arrested on charges of domestic violence but not against his ex-wife or currently estranged wife. Who filed the complaint? A girlfriend?
I got no problems with Avenatti’s cred as a Dem, he’s clearly that, and one who’s public statements on public policy suggest someone more liberal that the the House Dem caucus at least before our most recent midterms.
But I really wish he’d set his sights on some office that’s a better get then president, because he’s got zero chance at the DNC nom. He’s be a terrific House Dem member of one of the more active oversight committees, but his lack of cred with his own law and business partners and his confrontational mindset with public officialdom don’t remotely suggest any ability to avoid fighting with large sectors of any state-wide office such as US Senator or Governnor.
OTOH he’d be one hell of a head of some DoJ crusading section like Antitrust, Consumer Rights or Tax. This is not my shot at belittling: these are important jobs and require someone with his intellectual gifts and audacity.
But holy JFC there’s no sense at all from him as someone who’d work out as POTUS to all, one of the key distinctions and critical selling points that separate Ds from Rs.
SoCal lawyer Popehat - someone who is not remotely a fan of Avenatti - tweeted out an interesting point yesterday, as to how easy it is to scam the domestic assault complaint system in California, given police are REQUIRED to act to arrest and process on even a bare bones suspect complaints.
Avenatti himself has raised Jacob Wohl, and Avenatti’s got a strong track record of being right on such surmises.
The way it would work is someone would plant a complaint within the California law enforcement computerized system based on a combination of facts and fiction - say, the facts of where Avenatti’s ex wife lives, her name, the date of their divorce, etc, plus a verifiable police response unit visit for whatever purpose - then add in the fiction of an apparent assault and the ‘usual suspect’ an ex-husband.
The problem with this scam is the complaint system is superficially maintained as confidential, so actually frightened domestic partners feel safer in complaining - but IF THERE’S BEEN FRAUD, the confidentiality barrier can be taken down and the actual complainant identified.
Which is what I’m sure is going on right now. If it’s Wohl who instigated this, and it can be proven, Wohl can look forward to a Wohl Wohrld of Pain.
Avenatti for president must be left over from his 7th grade daydreams. He is too defensive, self absorbed, self-promotional and abrasive to win over many dems. Besides we already have Trump. Why does Avenatti think we need more of the same? Perhaps a deficit of self-awareness?
