Discussion: Avenatti Fires Back At Journalists Criticizing Him For Lawsuit Threat

The danger of litigating your case in the media. He was doing extremely well, but I suppose some push back was to be expected. Note this dustup is more or less comtemporanious with Trumpā€™s lament that he needs better TV lawyers.

Amusing that the Daily Caller and Fox News ā€œdirtā€ about Avenatti are that he has a dispute with a supplier and has filed for bankrupcy and this is somehow considered a defense for Trump.

Personally, I would be more than happy to see Avennati bury The Daily Caller and, if I had my druthers, take Tucker Carlson down with it. Nothing would warm my heart more than knowing Carlson had been reduced to eating freezer-burned Swanson TV dinners.

Daily Caller are fools if they think heā€™s bluffing. Heā€™s a loud mouthed shark lawyer who wants everyone to know heā€™s a loud mouthed shark lawyer. I donā€™t even understand what his case is, since I believe Stormy has already said everything she has to say. Iā€™m assuming theyā€™re both just looking for attention and whatever cash they can get out of this, so fighting the Daily Caller only fits in with his plans.

So maybe heā€™s bluffing and just trying to scare them away from telling the truth about him. But the scammers at Daily Caller havenā€™t seen a fact that they couldnā€™t nuance into lie, so I wouldnā€™t be betting that theyā€™re the ones with their shit together. I havenā€™t bothered checking to see what theyā€™re writing about him, but Iā€™m hoping itā€™s something he can hit them for.

And the real story here is that the media actually treats Daily Caller as if itā€™s a legitimate news source. If journalism was truly a profession and not a popularity contest, real journalists would be calling out the Daily Caller and all other conservative media for being propaganda. But the only standard they have is that they all stick together and consider it beneath them to actually care about truth or objective reality.

ā€œI think itā€™s somewhat improper for other journalists to jump to this knee-jerk reaction and defense of the Daily Caller without knowing all the facts.ā€

Actually, thatā€™s sorta what they do, though. Remember the fauxtrage of the DC press when the Obama-Fox News kerfuffle took place? And these cretins still treat Fox as if it were a legitimate news organization.

His ā€œcaseā€ with Ms. Daniels is that he is trying to invalidate the arbitration agreement that can result in millions in damages against her. Recall that Cohen sued Buzzfeed for defamation after they published the Steele dossier. Cohen withdrew that suit shortly after his home, hotel and office was raided. Avenattiā€™s objective vis Cohen (and Essential Consultants) is to get them to drop all of their claims against Stormy Daniels.

Looks like the moderate/conservative press is hopping on the ā€œIā€™m a victimā€ train that Trump/GOP has been using so effectively on them for the past 2 decades.

Exactly. This is just propaganda whataboutism, and itā€™s not even imaginative, itā€™s lame.

i donā€™t think avenatti has a full grasp on how the first amendment works.

So itā€™s a preemptive lawsuit to get her out of the agreement in case Trump/Cohen/Dennison decide to sue for the things sheā€™s already done? I guess, but that sounds pretty damn fake to me.

I think Stormy and Avenatti are looking for some fame and cash, and thereā€™s nothing wrong with that. Itā€™s truly bizarre that conservatives are allowed to get away with anything while admitting greed as their motive, while anti-conservatives are required to be saints or it nullifies everything they do. I understand the legal basis for what heā€™s doing, but prefer to discuss the truth while outside of court. Avenattiā€™s just making a name for himself and thatā€™s ok.

I was hoping that wasnā€™t the case. Sigh.

Daily Caller. Ha! Is Tucker hoping to get on Trumpā€™s nightly call list along with Honey Bear Hannity?

Oh well. Tucker will never live down the shellacking he got by Jon Stewart, and every time I think of that, I smile.

Cohen & Trump have already sued Daniels for $20 million. And as long as the agreement is not invalidated or dropped, she is under perpetual threat of them trying to recover damages every time she opens her mouth about Trump, and both of those things are pretty damn real. So, thereā€™s good reason for her to get out of it.

Additionally, she now has defamation suits going against Cohen and Trump, and thatā€™s got nothing to do with the NDA. When Trump says that your claim of being threatened for talking about him is a con job, then thatā€™s pretty damn real too.

Typical Republican oppo to RW puke funnel ā€œscandal.ā€ Boring facts just sufficient, possibly, to support the hyperbolic headline which is all the morons will read and then spin elaborate fantasy tales and links to the Clintons that will become canon in mere days.

One of his former law firms filed for bankruptcy years ago and he bought a company that was already in bankruptcy. Appears that one of the creditors acted like it was his fault they hadnā€™t been paid ahead of other creditors to leverage a personal payment out of him. Also, one guy off the record says heā€™s a dick.

This is, of course, the main thing DC does. Basically fills the niche in the media ecosystem that used to be filled by John Solomon.

The danger of litigating your case in the media.

As I posted on a related thread:
As Mr. Marshall has pointed out, this story against Avenatti should not be surprising ā€“ Drumpf has spent decades adjudicating his cases in the media and is practiced at turning stories against his ā€˜opponent.ā€™ This means focussing negative attention on whoever that might be to.
This was highlighted by the recent Michael Cohen story, where an outside attorney communicated information about Schneiderman that might have been advantageous to Drumpf to his lawyer and allied newspapermen, creating fodder for the name calling, false equivalences, whataboutisms and other forms of defamation that our precedent appears to love so dearly. Not to mention its posssible uses as kompromat.
Ratfucking has always been part of the Drumpf business model.
